Hello! - Replacement screen

Hi fellow Droid users! Just became the proud owner of an HTC hero about a month ago! I love it! Unfortunately my husbands phone has had a series of unhappy accidents. It got dropped on the concrete and the screen shattered. It was still working properly despite the cracked screen until he left it at the grocery store in a cart and it got smashed somehow. Now it is even more cracked and he is unable to use all of the touch screen features. I know the screen needs to be replaced but I am finding different types of products out there. I don't know if he just needs the LCD replacement screen or the digitizer and screen. If anyone can assist me with this, it would be much appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!

Which type of hero is it, CDMA or GSM?
