First of all, Hello Folks, am first time on an Android phone and for the lucky me it happens to be HTC Sensation /yeyeyey :)

As some other newcommers posting in this part of forum, I aswell came from rocking on iPhone 3G with 4.2.1 competing with snails on the track to a superduper dualcore madness.

I have to admit, I'm still quite confused about android, hence questions:

1. Changing the bottom bar icons ("apps/telephone/personalize") - Is it possible now, or will I have to wait for root and some superduper hack/app? Because obviously fast access to "Appearance" is as useful as a screen-door on a submarine. I'd love to completely remove it and have an extra bar available for widgets (yey, iPhone style!)

2. Imagine I root my HTC. If then I decide that I do not really need it, can I simply "factory" reset the phone to original settings? Does or does not "rooting" (I guess it's same as jailbreak) void warranty (doesn't on apple after restoring to original fw :) ).

3. How do I find out what version of Sensation do I have ? I noticed there are some weird models like "Z710e", "4G", "Pyramid", etc ... I thought there is ONE model of Sensation, that supports LTE network. In my country there should be LTE test drive going on soon for my carrier. I don't want to miss that!

4. Battery ... oh god ... :( followed a guide. Any experience with that juice defender app? does it work?

5. some accessory store - I'd love to get a flip-leather cover ( like Melkco Leather Case for HTC Sensation / Sensation 4G / Pyramid / Z710e / G14 - Jacka Type (Black LC)) and maybe some screen protection (not InvisibleShield or ScreenShield - those feel quite rubbery :( guess I ain't a rubber person :s )

6. Telephone app - is there any way to replace it with something less hm ... "confusing" ? Something iPhone-like? Maybe it's just a matter of time to get used to it, but really, sometimes all I need is a simple listing of contacts at first touch.

7. what apps you guys use mostly? For RSS (jesus, it took me time to add a feed from url) / mails, maybe a media player? What about another type of browser? Opera/Firefox ?

thanks for the tips!

1. Not until we get root access
2. You'll need to flash an RUU to unroot (if it's the same as previous Android handsets)
3. Look at the back of the box
4. Don't use JD, I just run it as it is - lasts a day easily
5. I just use a phone sock - nothing special but I do use a screen protector too and will be getting the HTC pouch once available
6. Search the Market (or get an iPhone)
7. Not many as it's a phone - Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Dolphin HD, AudioGuru and a few others

1. As Colnago mentioned...Launcher pro is a great UI replacement to HTC sense UI and less memory heavy as well. you can cuztomize pretty much everything down to the transitions between home screens and the speed as well. If you don't like it you can always revert back to HTC sense. However HTC sense widget are not compatible with Launcher pro

3. go to settings > about phone > phone identity should have the full phone name listed

4. A day is pretty average. Although I have seen 3rd party larger capacity batteries comming out (1800 mah) but no word on their performance just yet

6. The HTC phone app drives me up the wall as well! history is shown in the same list as the contacts, no proper search ability and the layout means i have accidently called numbers a good few times. Try GoContacts from the android market. its a good replacement to the stock app but in my opinion, it felt a bit slow in real world use and even slower if I applied a theme to the app - or maybe its just me.

hope this helps:)

Only problem is that when eunning Launcher Pro, there is still 400MB of memory in use, as it seems that Sense is still running in background. Also, the Sense widgets are not available, unlike using LP and still being able to use the MotoBlur widgets on a Motorola phone.

1. the first reply is just plain wrong here, and while others have mentioned launcher pro, there are actually a big bunch of home replacements to choose from (usually called "launchers", and you'll find some with that keyword in the market) - personally, i use launcher pro; adw launcher and golauncher are another popular ones just to name a couple

3. pyramid was just a code name inside htc when they were developing the thing - they changed it to sensation before launch
i'm not familiar with the differences between regional models, but an educated guess would be that there's an lte model and a non-lte model

4. i'd advice against any "battery saving" apps - there's plenty of threads around these forums about how to save your battery, tho' it is one of android's weak points
anyway a couple of those tips would be to keep your wifi off when you're not actively using it and turn the screen brightness down when appropriate

6. there's a "people" app astandard on the sensation that i like to use that simply lists my contacts... other than that, as always, just search the market and/or google around

7. for a music player, i like
