Hello Verizon- Galaxy Note/Journal

It's not like I am being a pest asking approximately once a month. WTF is going on with the 5.3 inch phone for Verizon. It would be nice to tell your loyal customers for what and for how long they will be waiting. Some might even opt for the Nexus but not if a Note/Journal will come out a few weeks later.

I know the 5.3 inch phone won't replace the Iphone as the single phone leader but it could be a huge winner for one segment of the population who wants that size and doesn't want the ATT coverage map. Also, as a CPA/Baby Boomer, I can use the larger screen and there are many apps for which that size phone would be perfect. I do not want a tablet at all, unless it was free, because I have laptops that all that and much more.

So, tell us what is going on and when you decide which one it will be, you can send me a free one for all the advice I am giving you.

Well maybe this Friday (3/9) at 4pm we'll find something regarding the Note going to different carriers according to this article: Samsung Hypes Announcement for Friday

i HOPE it's that but it could just be the Note getting ICS or something

I am seeing lots of commercials lately for the Note, and I can't believe Verizon is willing to give up on that entire market that the Note represents. The more I think about how useful it can be the more apps I think of. Inventory and daily cash control, order entry, patient records, teleprompting, document editing, time management and many more. All these things can be done with a smaller phone but it is impossible for some to see it. Whatever the Note can do a tablet can done but fit in your pocket.

I love the Gnex but the screen is too small. Verizon get off your a** and get with the program, bring the Gnote NOW!!!!

the announcement was apparently about the new Angry Birds game and some relationship with the Note.

Disappointed. I'm hoping to get the Note on Verizon soon.

FCC wants Verizon to show, by March 22, why it needs more spectrum in 2013. Maybe if they introduced a Note-like large scale phone that can be used for many vertical market accounting packages, it might have a better explanation. Verizon's LTE Network has the best coverage and it will be something our hurting American business might be looking at for many of it's on the spot input calcs and reconciliations.

Verizon, for that argument, you can send me two Samsung Verizon Notes/Journals!

I too cannot wait for the Journal to come to Verizon...maybe they're waiting until it 1) gets ICS and 2) Is able to work properly with their LTE network. I have Bionic I bought on launch and and I love it, but I want that bigger screen for reading!

There has to be a reason for this lack of information and I agree with you, they may be trying to make it one step better than the ATT Note, either with a better LTE processor, a quad processor or ICS from the get go. They could leak out where it's going. it would take something pretty big to get me to jump to ATT for their Note. Right now Verizon LTE is everywhere I need it and ATT is not.

I think what Verizon is missing is that there is a huge market out there waiting and even more not knowing what a VZW Note/Journal can do for them. I think it's better to give indication its coming and develop a cult like desire among would be buyers than to just spring it on everyone, especially with numerous commercial (I see at least 3 everyday mostly on sports networks) for the Note. Why give it all up to ATT?

If VZW has no plans whatsoever to sell the Note/Journal they should tell us so that we can look for other phones operating in VZW LTE because that is the spectrum many of us want to be in.

I agree; I do not understand these companies' policies on releasing information on phones. The Bionic was a good case in point, but that is for another forum. I believe it was "leaked" on quite early that Verizon would get its own version of the Note, called the Journal (I really like that name). But what surprises me is the total lack of any information or leaks on the subject...they don't have to tell us what the specs it will have, but, like dlcpa said, create some kind of "cult like desire" so people will wait and look forward to purchasing it.

I really think most people are VERY loyal to their carriers...I would NEVER leave Verizon for AT&T, no matter what phone they were selling, a fact I think Verizon is quite aware of...therefore they don't feel the need to leak out info that may prove to be wrong down the road. But marketing wise, it seems a mistake to me, but maybe Verizon has so much money they don't care how many of each model phone they sell.

I think the Journal serves a great market niche...I don't want a tablet and a phone, but something in-between that serves BOTH purposes and this phone does just that. When my wife saw this phone she said, "I want that phone!" This is coming from someone that NEVER wanted a smart phone, but loves the possibilities this size can provide...it looks like we will be a two Journal family!

I am content to wait until it gets quad-four, ICS, and good LTE service...I just hope we hear about it soon...it makes the wait easier!

What pisses me off is Verizon Wireless' lack of info. I bought 2 extra batteries for my two Blackberry Storm 2s and now only 2 of the 4 holds a charge. If I knew that a comparable Note would come out in June or July or maybe even May, I'd buy new batteries.

The desire to please and help the customer has never really been a big thing with the communications companies.

It would be nice if we had a clue what these corporations were planning so we could do the same.

I love the Gnex but screen is too small and battery life sucks.

You guys see how us at&t customers feel like when you have the GNex and we don't.

You (ATT) had the IPhone for years before anyone else got it and right now ATT is very much an inferior 4G LTE network that barely exists. It's a little crazy to put a phone, like the Note, that is so business perfect, on a network that can't allow it to love up to it's abilities.

Now that I bought 2 extra batteries for my Blackberry Storm 2, I am content to wait for a better version of the Note, that has ICS, that has a better processor and has some of the bugs out. My wife is waiting to get a phone too and she could get the Nexus now, she doesn't want a phone as big as a Note, but we are buying together b/c of the family plan, if ATT gets it's network act together and Verizon offers nothing in a large phone (I don't want an LG) we could switch. It's not likely, but who knows. Then once time delays things, anything can happen, Perhaps Apple will offer a regular sized phone and a large phone too.

I for one hope Verizon never gets this phone. Their network is the complete worse. I live in new York and most of my time on long island. I have the galaxy nexus and time I go indoors anywhere either no service or it will say 3g and never connect. My note is unlocked and a hundred times more reliable I just don't get where everyone lives that gets great Verizon service. Now I have to pay 310 to cancel the phone contract. Right now in a doctors office my nexus no data and the note doing just fine.

I gurss it depends on what part of LI you are on. For the North Shore between Jericho, Huntington and Plainview, Verizon 3G is much better. There is 4G LTE service there and I don't believe there is any for ATT.

Same is true for the Delray Beach area. 4G LTE service for VZW and none for ATT

I got tired of waiting and just dropped my carrier and sold my 4'56" GS2 ($300) and used the money to buy an unlocked Note from Eruope ($600). I then got a Straight Talk sim card from WalMart and pay 45 a month vs the 80+10 I was paying for slow speeds from Sprint. I don't get LTE speeds, but HSPA+ is faster then most residental internet in my area.

Even though the buy for the phone was expensive I save half my bill a month so it evens out after a year or so. In short compared to Sprints slow data speeds on 3g and the extremely long battery life on the Note without LTE I am very happy. You might want to look into it......Or not and keep waiting. Good Luck.

Its insane how long we have to wait in the US for these phones. I am done with it. GSM phones hold their value pretty good also. I have seen Galaxy Infuse still at 250+ for broken ones vs my near mint condition E4gT only grabs about 3. Coupled with the fact we get the phones over hear when they are 2/3 through the life cycle. Ill buy unlokced from over seas from here on out.

Wow you seem like you really wanted the note. I forgot to mention the Note I got runs on ATT network. I don't know how HSPA+ is there, but it is great here so I can use data anywhere without probelm. Str8 Tlk aslo has Tmo sims, but unfortunately Tmo only supports edge on the Note in the US unless you are in to rooting the ATT/LTE version.

Trust me the Note is well worth it, but based off of Samsungs declared sales of 5million sold not shipped so far the note 2 is probably coming behind the gs3. I stayed away from the ATT/LTE note because of the processor and LTE are battery killers. Exynos is the better choice IMO. There is so much we miss here in the states that unlocked phones get by default, it is a shame that we are under this carrier rule like we are in the US.

For example: the unlocked note has processor management where under battery savings it will run the cpu at 800mhz by defualt unless it gets into trouble and needs the extra bandwidth. It also seems like they can make video calls over the network without needing special apps. Which to me makes more since. Similar to tango, but str8 from the dialer.

Hi Tim,

It's just a matter of coverage. ATT where I am 95% of the time is horrible and there is no 4G LTE. Look at the recent coverage map. It's really pathetic. If you are getting the LTE then that's great but I am reading lots of stuff about lag, so the processor choice could have been better and as long as there is no LTE where I am, why would I buy the Note?

The problem is that there is no information about an alternative Note for Verizon by either Samsung or VZW. My Blackberry Storm 2 is being held together by spit even after the two new batteries I just bought. It doesn't make sense that VZW doesn't have a phone this size and if it will be another 6 months to a year till they announce one, lots of people will be pissed. I wish I had an option but nothing sucks worse than poor coverage. It's worse than a slow processor, a lot worse. On Long Island and Southeast Florida, there is no ATT LTE. Where are you?

All I can say is they better make the Journal worth the wait. I'm thinking ICS, quad core, and even 2Gb Ram is deserving for the large delay behind the note. Otherwise if they don't phones like Droid fighter (Droid HD) and HTC fireball will squash it, because they are rumored to be out around the same time. So unless the Journal is an under $200 phone it won't stand a chance as is, aka Note. I'm trying to be patient for the Journal, but I have to admit The Droid HD may end up being the better deal.

AAA, totally agree. Been looking at this phone for close to a year. Now with a $30 upgrade fee and a 36 month life, I don't want a phone that's a year old and having performance issues. If VZW got the Note (same as ATT) I wouldn't buy it unless it flies because of the superior network. But even then, for the wait I want a quad core processor to remove any speed doubts. If it's there, us it!

I had the chance to use a galaxy note and I agree Verizon should have this phone. They should hurry because by the time it get to Verizon, 5g will be out and well go back to pagers and two ways. :)
