Hello

Pridi16

Lurker
Greetings all. I just bought my first tablet/Android device yesterday; an ARCHOS 80 G9. I was about to buy a Kindle Fire but this was the same price ($199) and seemed to be capable of a lot more.
So far; so good. My Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade downloaded almost as soon as I first opened the new tablet.
I'm an old far...uh, elderly gentleman and I'm sure to have many questions in the weeks to come.
One warning to US residents considering the Archos G9 series: the advertised 3G
accessory stick designed to slot into the back and provide 3G connectivity will NOT work in the USA and Canada as it is a GSM device. They do not make that clear in their promo material and box labeling. Even the retailer I purchased it from was unaware of the restriction.

Sorry to hear about your problems with the 3G connectivity! Do you pay monthly for it or was it a one time deal?

I never got to the 3g connectivity point. What I found is that the 3G accessory is not sold and does not function in the USA; wrong band spectrum.
