Am logging into the forum to carry the message that a simple fix exists for Google Play "Can't establish a reliable connection" timeout error. That is is Google's way of saying "Host not found". The solution is "simply" to remove or comment out a line in /system/etc/hosts so that DNS can properly do its job, but editing the hosts file is difficult given the security the devices are created with. I spent the better part of a weekend and a couple of late nights finding the one place that has the right info, so I'm posting it around to make it easier for folks to find.
