Root HELP!!! .595 to .596 sbf?

djdanko1

Newbie
I am sorta new to all this. I original got the unofficial .588 I then installed .595. I am trying to get the official .596 without having to go back to the original froyo. are their any options out there? I saw there is a sbf for .596 will that work for me? if so what do I need to do or is their a link that can help me out. when doing that will I lose any date on my phone?

sorry for the noob questions!

Thanks,

djdanko

You don't want the 596 sbf. Its not rootable. Do as cross said and follow that link to the rooted 596 gb files. You will use method 3 and flash the gingerbread 596 zip file through clockwork recovery(droid 2 bootstrap). All the info you need is in that link cross gave you. Read up on what you want to know. Then when you think you are ready read some more. Then come shout for us and we can answer you questions.

The best place you can go is to the top of this forum and look at the sticky for newbies. That can explain things in a way you will understand.

Sorry it's been a while, my dad had open heart surgery. the problem I am having is with .595 I can't root it so how can I reboot into clockwork recovering in order to install the zip?

If your on .595 it should already be rooted. Just download D2 Bootstrapper and boot into recovery that way. Then install from there.

Hope your dad is ok!

Sounds like your dad needs the attention more than your phone right now. Deal with what's going on at home first and when you're ready we will be here to help. Hope your dad gets well soon.

Well right now my mom and myself are on shifts of taking care of him. so I do have some off time.

Using the root checker It says my phone is not rooted. is there a reason for that? can I root it somehow?

I had d2 bootstrap but somehow I accidentally uninstalled it and now it wants me to pay again. darn....
