Root Help a Droid X guy help a Droid friend.

Hey guys. I'm a Droid X owner. So all my rooting/romming/ bricking/ unbricking experiences are with that.

I successfully rooted him a few weeks ago, but he did the OTA and wiped it out.. I understand a lot of these concepts. For Droid x the steps are simple to me

1. Root via z4
2. Download Droid X bootstrapper recovery
3. Make a recovery
4. Download a rom to the sd card
5. Reboot to bootstrapper recovery
6. Clear Cache and data partition
7. Install zip via sd card
8. Wah lah...

Can anyone translate or put in simple terms like this for me please? My friend is real close to being done with this thing and I know he has one of the best phones out and would like to show him how beasty that thing can be.

He does have the latest OTA. That is all I can think of as far as software.
It is no longer rooted since the 0TA wiped it out.. Thank you all

You can root with super one click that was made by someone over at xda developers. Everything else is just about the same except that he doesn't need bootstrap. To get into clockwork, power up the phone by holding the x key and power at the same time.

So is there a program that allows me to create nandroids and restore them. Or does a stock rooted droid just need rooted.. powerful off.. into stock recovery. Create back up.then same to clear cache and install rom

Download Rom Manager from the market then you can flash Clockworkmod Recovery from within it. the free version works for creating and restoring back-ups, flashing roms, etc....

Rom Manager would take the place of your Bootstrapper.....

Ahh, titles. I thought I had read this thread out before. My bad.

I really should learn to read, before my professors figure that out lol...
