Help after rooting phone

Hi all - I'm new to this forum as I need some help after rooting my phone :(

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 on Orange in the UK. I just rooted my phone which was successful and I want to try a different ROM on it.

I downloaded ROM Manager V5.0.0.6 and want to backup the current ROM before installing a new one, in case anything goes wrong. However, when I click on 'Backup Current ROM', and input a backup name (as per prompt) I get the message 'ROM Manager has been denied Superuser permissions'.

I don't want to install a new ROM without some sort of back up in case it all goes pear-shaped so now I'm a bit stuck. Does anyone know how I can proceed?

Firstly check you are properly rooted. Download root check from the market. If this reports a problem (which I think it will) then you will need to re-root your device. Use the chainfire cf-root method.

If root check says you are ok, then do not attempt your backup with ROM manager but boot into recovery and do it with cwm recovery instead.

I never use ROM manager for anything.
