Help help an HTC noob

Hello all of my fellow Evo v users! Coming from the MT must say I am quite impressed with this phone.... Although Im pretty new to sense. When im on the manage app screen I noticed that there is a disable option is this similar to freezing an app like on a rooted phone? Are there any draw backs if I disable some of the preloaded apps like air g chat and facebook?

As long as the apps are not something vital, that is fine to do.
It's just like freezing them with Titanium backup.
