Help Help - android system space low!

Hi I tried looking for help on this but still need help so if there any expert on this pls help. thanks!

My Samsung android phone seem to have 2 partition on it. The internal storage 4.56GIG. And the system is 1.30G. The system is low on disk space and says its only has 263. I have not partition my drive.

Question:
1. Are the apps downloaded from the internet installed on this partition?
I used an app to find it out and i have my apps installed on system root. So this would be on the 1.30G location?

2. If it run out of space will it use the other internal storage?
3. Why does not the app get installed on the other internal storage?

Thanks for helping!

The way Android used to work is that it partitioned internal storage into a small System partition used for apps (the 1.3GB one) and a generic area for user files like photos, videos, MP3s etc (the 4.5GB one). These versions of android also allowed you to move some of the app files to the SD card (App2SD) so you install more apps in the limited space.

Unfortunately, once the system storage is full, the only option is to remove things from it, i.e.:

- apps you no longer use
- updates and data for apps you don't use but can't remove

Later versions of Android no longer partitition like this and treat all internal space the same, sharing it between app storage and other content. The downside is, no more App2SD.

Unfortunately, upgrading a phone that was partitioned doesn't re-partition as it would destroy all data in internal storage AND you no longer have App2SD.

The only workarounds involve rooting (getting admin access) and either adding a 3rd party App2SD solution or re-partitioning internal storage. You can find lots of information about this in the Rooting section of your phone's sub-forum on here.

I dont get why the system partition is filling up  mine had loads of space spare even with TW in it!
Are you rooted and put some apps in /system?
Do you have any pics?

Hi thanks for responding, my apps are not installed on that partition but on another internal partition. The 1.30GB seem to just have system apps and the 4.5g have the other apps I downloaded.

I have android 4.1 and still its like this.

So what can I do to make sure it does not fill up? Thanks
