Help Help: app icons, facebook, etc

I just got my fascinate yesterday and I love it! I'm coming from a bb storm 2, it is a very different OS. I have a few questions and I hope that someone can help me out.

Is there an app or a way I can make the phone vibrate longer? I did DL one but I can't get it to work.

There is an icon on my status bar that looks like a calendar page...no idea what it is, it just showed up this morning and I can't get it to go away.

Is there a way to get facebook to refresh automatically like it did on the bb? Right now the its on the lowest setting to refresh every half hour. Can that be changed so that I can get instant notifications?

Hi Heather,
Congrats on your Fascinate. It's an amazing phone.
I can't answer all your questions completely, but I can give you some starting advice until someone can help you further.

For making longer vibrations, I can only help you with text msging. You can download an app called Handcent and set that as your default msg client. It gives you a lot of customization options, including multiple options for vibrating on receiving texts. If you use this, you want to make sure under settings of your stock messaging that you turn off all notifications.

for calendar icon: if you touch your notification bar and slide it down, it will give you more info about the icon. Also, when you do this, there should be an option to clear notification bar. Click that to clear the bar. If this doesn't work, you'll have to wait for another response.

The fastest notification on my FB is also 30 min, so I can't help with that.
