Help! Backing up an App

I have an app on my GSIII that was purchased from the Google Play store. This app is no longer available but I wish to keep mine when my NoteIII arrives. Is there an easy way to get this app from one device to another? I do not like the options of googling it and taking a chance by downloading it from a probable less than reputable source or getting it from Mikandi app store (I am unfamilar with this!)

Could someone help or offer some advice to obtain the apk?

Thank you!
Aly

I'm pretty sure your going to need root and a root explorer to move/copy the file to your sdcard to reinstall it on your new phone

Yeah since youre not gona want to root an old phone that you might resell AND a brand new phone which i dont know is rootable ret, Hadron's suggestion is best.
And youre definately doing the right thing by not using pirated sites.
P.s. why not mail the app's dev and maybe he'll give you a free APK if you seem genuine

I tried the AppMonster before anything else was posted. The app in question says "protected" in red... but I selected it and chose backup and text appeared saying it was backed up. Not sure what that did. Did that just back up my info, or the actual install?

I'll try Helium also.

I will also try to contact the developer... not sure I know how to figure out who the developer is... I know they also sell the app in the Mikandi store once it was pulled from the Play store. I just don't want that store on my phone... or does anyone happen to know if I get something from there, would I ONLY have the app I purchased, or is Mikandi something I would need to install itself? I don't even mind paying for the app again. I never mind supporting developers. I just ONLY want the app, nothing more.

Thank you guys for helping me!

Is the original app still on Play store with the devs email?
If not. What is that store youre talkin bout? If its a pirate site, just dingy it. Google info about the app you want, find out the developer, look for more of his devs on play store n get his mail that way

It is not in the Play Store anymore... it was pulled due to being too adult in nature... and that's what that other store is... although the stuff there is more adult in nature and I don't have interest in any of that on my phone except this app... I have a PC with a big screen for that LOL!

i use file expert to extract the apk. then i put it in my dropbox, which i pretty much only use for apk's. they are there on dropbox for any new device i might have.

What does "Protected" mean? I have several apps that are labelled as "protected" that ES won't back-up. Most/all of these are Pro/Paid versions.

Theyre payed ones, its to provent piracy i guess. You have to be rooted to back them up and im not sure how that gets around the piracy thing tbh. Titanium etc(?)

Odd. I used to be able to back these apps up. Then one day, I couldn't. I emailed ES but they never replied that paid apps couldn't be backed up.

you sure about this? i have mantano paid version backed up. it was awhile ago, so of course something could have changed.

Yeah. I have the free version since I don't need the features of paid (and it's a bit overpriced IMO, considering I already have ezPDF). I backed up my Tab using Helium (it's unrooted) and did a factory reset 2 days ago. I wanted to clean the thing up, too many installed apps and games I don't use, lots of temp files in the cache, etc. So when I was restoring the data to apps I do use a lot, Mantano Reader was conspicuously missing.

Curious. I used to have a backup on my old phone, so just tested (install, backup, uninstall, restore) and it all works with Titanium.
