Root Help Bootloop

Newbie
I'm new here so please be patient with me. I did a factory reset on gingersteem extreem and now it boots directly into CWM. I tried to restore my backup rom but I get an error saying "can't mount /sdcard/.android_secure!" and it just stops there. I deleted gingersteam zip file from my sd so I cant reflash it on.

Is there anything I can do to get my phone working again? Any help would be great.

this might be a dumb question but do I insert the sd card on the phone because I took out the battery but I dont see any slots for SD cards? Or is there a different way to do it?

The External SD Card is place above the top right of the battery once it is pulled out of the phone. I have a post on the Non-Root users forum for the Esteem that I will repost here right now... give me 2 minutes and refresh the page and reread my post.

Get an SD Card from anywhere that can hold atleast 256MB of data andplace the SD Card into ANY other device that you can connect to the computer and place files onto the SD Card with. Once you put the ROM back onto the SD Card, place the SD Card into the Esteem and "Install ZIP From SD Card".

P.S. The thing u did wrong was you "Factory Data Reset" through the
Settings -> Privacy tab in the OS... do NOT do that... if you ever want to Factory Reset with an aftermarket custom ROM u MUST do it inside of ClockWork Mod by booting into CWM and selecting "Wipe Data/Factory Reset". doing so through the custom ROM os will always format the Android.Secure folder on the internal SD Card IIRC.

thanks for the detailed answer epayne. I'm going to the store to get a card. In the meantime do you know why my backup isn't able to restore? I followed the directions step by step on how to backup current ROM which wasn't hard at all.

I put the ROM onto the sd card and flashed it like you said epayne but I still got the bootloops. I then ran exitrecovery like nuttmeg said and it works perfectly now. I would like to thank all of you that helped me out. I thought i had to buy a new phone lol.

Ya, was in the same position as u once before... but got my phone up and running and I keep that file handy incase something weird ever goes wrong.

You would have had to reinstall the ROM again anyways since Android.secure was not recognizeable. The bootloop fix fixes the bootloop problem yes but Android.secure being formatted would've given u problems also when u ended up booting back into the OS. Whenever you want to Facotry Reset, use the "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" option in CWM ONLY, not by Settings -> Privacy -> Factory Data Reset.

Same here, I have an Admire that I can always slap my SD Card into and put the correct ROMs and Fixes onto but I always keep the bootloop fox on the SD Card anyways and just delete the ROMs because I have backups.
