Root Help! Bricked phone here

Lurker
Hi All,

I've explored a few threads on here to help my bricking issue, but to no avail! (http://androidforums.com/desire-sup...-error-110-when-trying-go-back-stock-rom.html)

I installed CM7 on my Desire about 18 months ago and have now tried to revert to the stock ruu to sell on the phone. I downloaded "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_O2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed" from shipped roms and tried to apply (according to the AlphaRev site, applying a stock ruu would overwrite the s-Off patch).

This failed with the USB "110" error. The phone now goes to the silver on black HTC logo on start. When unplugged from USB, the phone shows a white screen with the following info:

BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.09.05.30_2

RUU

I've tried a number of things:

1. Trying to gain S-OFF again using AlphaRev and Revolutionary, but the phone is not detected on USB
2. Applying different O2 and WWE RUU's - all fail with 110

I'm completely stuck! I think one of the problems is there's so much advice!! Anyone able to offer a solution???

Thanks in advance!

Which alpharev hboot did you have? Only very old ones are replaced by the RUU, and if you were using the CM7r2 hboot the stock ROM in the RUU won't fit in that. So I suspect that might be the problem.

On the alpharev site there is a "downgrader" hboot. Download it to a PC and fastboot flash it to the phone, or else follow the instructions there for using the PB99IMG.zip version, whichever you are more comfortable with. Don't bother about nandroid backup in this case though, as (a) you're going to run an RUU anyway and (b) you can't make one in your current state.

Once the downgrader hboot is loaded, run the RUU again. This should take you to stock condition.

Sorry, I've just realised it says you are s-on now, which implies that the hboot was changed!

In that case, all I can think of is to try a different RUU. The 2.3 update should work with your phone.

Hi and thanks - 2.3 update sorted the problem. Phew!
