Help HELP!!! computer wont show my note3

Ok, So today I thought I was going to do something SUPER easy by plugging my new note 3 into my computer to start the process of moving some music from comp to phone...
Oh boy am I surprised 10 hours later I STILL CANNOT figure out why in the name of seven hells this isn't working.
I have contacted Verizon, Samsung, and now I am contacting the droidosphere to see if any wise person or someone who (hopefully) has gone through this issue and can help me out before I absolutely INSANE.
So it wont go past connected as installer, and I have downloaded the drivers directly from Samsung and it still doesn't work ( when attempting to downloading the drivers it gives me an error message: The Mobile phone is in use. to install normally, you need to remove the device and restart the computer. Please run the Samsung usb driver for mobile phones installer again after restarting) and then attempts to install a driver ( unsuccessfully).
I have also switched it to both MTP and PTP mode on my phone and still nothing, I have removed my sd card to see if that would help.
In the device manager the note 3 will show up as SAMSUNG_android and ALL attempted to update driver uninstall driver have gone unsuccessful. I am beyond my wits end with this, I would be TREMENDOUSLY grateful to anyone who has ANY pearl(s) of wisdom in this matter..

yes I have tried all available USB ports on my computer.

Hello there, Sorry to hear of your troubles...

I know you said you got the drivers straight from Samsung, but have you tried downloading Kies 3?

You can get rid of it later if you don't like it but it may help you get connected to the pc.

Thanks I'm willing to try anything at this point, I'm beginning to think that my problem is in the plug and play area, which will require a trip to my tech guy, since I have researched everything possible I could think of and do.

Windows 7, I'm to the conclusion I need to backup my hdd and reformat, because that's not the only issue that's popped up in the past few days.. That should do the trick.

Yes it does ( even though the charging power is non existent) I had it on the laptop charger yesterday for close to 3 hrs and it only charged 11%

Yes, but not the normal sound.

So wait do you have a desktop and a laptop?

Does it not connect to both or just one? And if you only have one computer is it possible to test this on someone else's?

Laptop, the desktop I have is ancient and is too slow
I only have one working computer, I would try it on my friends computer but she was able to just pop her usb cord in and go on her merry way, waiting for a response from another friend who has a note to see if they've tried to usb their notes to their laptop.
