As much as I love the story, his only proof is a picture of his phone with the water-damage indicator. He should contact the family for a replacement, I'm sure any family who valued the life of their kid would buy you a new phone for saving a life.

Not to say I think everyone on the net is lying, but sending a guy money for a heart-felt story is kinda dumb. You sound like the kind of person who falls for the Nigerian scam and replies with your bank account information.
