Help! Daughter's rooted lg ls885 only boots into Android System Recovery

cwiggam

Newbie
Please help. I am a complete newbie to rooting. We used LG One Click Root to root my daugher's lg ls885 from sprint. We only did that to change one setting so we could use the hotspot for free. Anyway, yesterday, she did the android update for stagefright. Now her phone goes to Android System Recovery everytime she turns on her phone. I can get it to download mode. However, my computer won't recognize it as a phone. I have no idea what to do. Can someone give me step by step directions on how to fix this? I don't understand flashing or anything else so any help would be completely appreciated.

Thanks In Advance!

I agree with jfalls63. Use the Tot file and dll file and you should be able to boot it up just fine.
You will just have to re root the device. I have used the files provide by hyelton a ton of times and they always work if done correctly.

I tried to follow all the steps but when I try to change the port #, it's not listed. The phone is listed as android device. I can't find the lge com port anywhere in my devices

Do you have the LG drivers installed? Are you using a desktop PC or a laptop?
If it's a desktop use a USB port in the back. If it's a laptop try a different usb port.
If drivers are installed and all other things are a go, then try a different USB cable.

It would just say com port in device manager than you would click on it and it should show the LG serial port.
Is the device in download mode? It usually says firmware upgrade.

Yes. Lg drivers are installed. I was using a laptop and the com/port line never showed up in device manager. I have tried all the ports on the computer. No go. Just a thought, when I was rooting her phone, I had to try 3 different usb cords to get it to connect to the same computer. The phone goes to download mode/fastboot. It does not say firmware upgrade. A guy that is looking at it says the boot loader night be fried. What does that mean?

If it doesn't look like this than you're in the wrong mode.
Turn the phone completely off. Press and hold the volume up on your LG G3.
While still holding the volume up, plug in a microUSB cable into your phone.
Make sure the USB side is already plugged into the computer.

Then it should show the second picture then the first one. After that is done the drivers should start installing again & or the com port will appear.

I'll have to have him send me a pic of the screen. That's not what her phone goes in to. At the top it says:
Download Mode
Then a couple of lines. The last one says something about fastboot from what I can remember.

Ok. I plugged my lg g3 into my computer to see what it said in device manager. I rooted nine the same as my daughter's Vigor. In device manager, they both come up as Android Device. When I click on it, the line reads AndroidNet Sooner Single ADB Interface

Ok. I think her phone is not going completely into download mode. I don't have a screen shot of that yet but it says download mode at the top with lines of script underneath. When I turn on her phone, it does the lg logo, then goes to this screen:

If the battery comes out do this. Take it out for a minute. Then put it back in. Don't turn the phone on or press power.
Then Hold volume up and don't let go, while doing that plug the usb cable in. Leaving the phone completely off the whole time. Don't press power.

Ok. This is from the guy helping me out with the phone:
Ask him why itwont show lg in the device manager. It will go into download mode but its a diffrent one than suppost to be.Left batt out all night to try to reset the memory but tried atleast 6 cords but wont recognize, even in devices it comes up unknown and thats really the only thing stopping.Have all the software files to fix and programs but cant recognize lg device, last step is that

Or ask them what files I can use to adb sideload?

Ok. The problem we're having is getting the phone into download mode plus the computer still won't recognize it. Is there a way to sideload it? Here is the screenshot of the "download" mode that we can get the phone into. We are so stuck at this point. So there need to be able to get it to download mode or somehow sideload a rom

Sounds like you have corrupted partitions.
You would need to fastboot flash the partitions. Does it show
Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 in device manager?

I can give you a basic run down on how to flash them or maybe Iowabowtech will be online and he can help as well.

How do you flash if you can't get the computer to recognize phone? It only recognizes it as other device or android.
BTW Thank you so much for all your patience and help!!

What version of Windows do you have?
Is there any yellow ? marks in device manager? Or even yellow exclamation points?
Are you using a 2.0 Usb port or 3.0 ports?

Do you have access to a different PC? I know when i have issues alot of times a different PC is all it takes.

If you have a custom recovery installed you could sideload a rom possibly. Still you have driver issues/device detection issues.
