Help help! deleted contact storage data, now i need to get my gmail contacts onto phone

so i wasn't thinking and deleted my contact storage data. i need to get my google contacts back onto my phone. this seems like it should be really easy, but i cannot figure it out for the life of me. what do i need to do?

all you should have to do us go into your accounts and sync and choose the option to sync your contacts from the Google account.
