Ok, in my lack of googling a bit more I deleted DownloadProvider.apk and it's associated .odex file, and did the same thing to DownloadProviderUI.apk and it's .odex file. Can somebody please provide me with the .odex files and perhaps a script or something to get these back on the phone? I have the original .apk's for the phone but it wont let me reinstall back to the phone since they are odex-ed files.

I am assuming you are rooted. Can you copy the apps to your phone? If you can you can use a program like root explorer to copy the files from where you put them on your phone to system-apps. In root explorer you will have to click on the r/o button on top to r/w to move the apps. You might have to change permission for both of them. Once the apps are moved long press each one and click change permission and then you will have to match it to the other apps in system app folder. You can long press an app already there and see what the permissions are.

I've been able to move DownloadProvider.apk and DownloadProviderUI.apk, but I don't have the odex files. Would anybody be able to copy these for me? I don't know I'd it'd make a difference or not but I'm using a metro phone.

After moving the 2 apps and rebooting did the odex files show up?

To OutOfPhase: Unfortunately they did not.

To mkopisz: :adore: Thank you so much dude. I haven't been able to do sh!t with my phone since saturday seeing as how I thought that doing a factory reset would fix it but instead it just wiped everything and I couldn't download a single byte.

Hello all

I'm a Android noob, but managed to delete the DownloadProvider too....

Can I use the 2 files in the previous post, on my Samsung Galaxy Y pro duos?

I've tryed putting those 2 files back, changing permissions, rebooting, nothing works.... Maybe those are not correct for my phone....

Please, some help people :)

Thanks

I'd give it a try. Worst case scenario you're stuck in the same position you're in now. It is ICS, correct?
