Help [Help] Event notifications going crazy!!

FelgY

Newbie
Hello all!

I'm having quite an annoying problem...

When I have an event on my calendar with alarm/notification (usually set to remind me "one day before") I receive a lot of reminders during the previous and the actual day of the event. It's just freakin' annoying! Even after I disable the notification, it still pop-ups all the time.

Anyone else with this problem? ... and solution?

Thank a lot!! ;)

Cheers,

Jo

There is a small button which says Delete or Remove :) Just press it and it will be solved :)
I had this problem too this morning during a lesson :D It was ****ing annoying :D

I haven't found a way around this issue, other than when it happens going in and Editing the event and putting no reminder and then hitting Save.

I use my X10 with a calendar app synced with Google Calender but have an X8 on loan from Sony Ericsson for question answering purposes on both it and the mini's which have the same setup more or less. It has both the app and stock calendar and there is just no global setting on the stock calendar to turn off reminders as there is on the X10. I rarely set up reminders when I create an appointment but as soon as it appears on the X8 the stock app decides that I do need reminding, and as you say it won't shut up! I have passed my feedback on this to my 'boss' at the Sony Ericsson talk forum.

That said, the X8 is a nice phone and can give my X10 a run for its money... if only it would do it quietly!

Thank You for your replies Lupajz and rosered!

Well, the problem is that this doesn't seem to work! And WORST, now I'm receiving notifications from past events WITHOUT REMINDERS! Just unbelievable! :D

I guess deleting is the best solution, as suggested by Lupajz. :)

OK, a sort of an update on the problem...

I've just realised that I had, by default, on my Google Calendar (online) reminders for 30 minutes before an event! I noticed this after not being able to disable the reminder on Lightening (Thunderbird) - even if I won't set a reminder, it would "force" a reminder.

This is just a hint, I haven't "tested" yet, but as soon as I have something new, I'll let you know.

In the meanwhile, if you're having this problem, check on your Google Calendar if you have reminders enabled by default.

Cheers,

Jo

OK I am going to ask the obvious and please excuse me (it's very early in the morning and the brain isn't quite geared up yet!) where is the setting for default reminders on my online calendar!? I have looked but can't see it :D

Haha! No problem! ;)

After you're logged in in calendar.google.com, go to "Settings (upper right corner)" > "Calendar Settings" then on the tab "Calendars", on the calendar you're currently syncing with your SE, click "Notifications". If you have any reminder by default, it should appear under "Event reminders:".

Darn it.... it's easy when you know how!! I was looking for reminders, didn't think about notifications. Thank you!

So just tested and new events created on the X8 now have no reminder. Not sure about the ones that are already there but hopefully over next few weeks the problem will diminish and eventually disappear.
