Root [Help] Failed GB Download

Now i dont have very much experience with root, roms, or anything so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am currently running 2.2 and used z4 to root my phone. I downloaded a rom/theme i think it was blackmodz or something like that, basically i got one that would make my status bar black. Anyway i used z4 to unroot and tried downloading the 2.3 software and failed then i followed some instructions i found on forums to factory reset the phone and i did that. After facorty resetting i still have the black status bar theme and the software download still fails obviously. If someone could tell me what i need to do to remove the rom/theme so i can download the new GB software that would be great.

first, you have to be rooted to install any leaked version of gingerbread. second, if you are still on android os 2.2, you might want to update it into 2.2.1 (ota froyo update). of course after you updated to 2.2.1 you would still have to root your dx, then using the clockworkmod recovery you can apply the GB zip file
