Okay, apparently some ROMs are incompatible with the G3's SlimPort HDMI out feature. Stock ROMs seem to support it without a problem.
I tried CM11 based PacMan ROM (4.4kk) and while it will stream video, I was unable to transfer audio. You can send sound out the thru the headphone jack or stream to bluetooth speakers however. I noticed a little buzzing/interference when trying the jack or bluetooth speakers however.
If anyone has a SlimPort adapter and running custom ROMs, please post if you have success or problems running the SlimPort.
Now, before the inevitable comments about miracast or chromecast, there are distinct advantages to the SlimPort.
#1. No lag. Much better for playing games.
#2. Hi quality. I don't have a chromecast, but the miracast feature stutters for me at high quality.
#3. Battery savings. SlimPort doesn't use your phone's battery.
Miracast and chromecast have their advantages as well. I'm not dissing them. I just want a resource list for our phones for anyone wanting to explore ROMs and get all they features they might want.
