Root Help for a newbie? Froze the wrong thing...

matboe

Lurker
Hi, I hope this is a good place to post my question.

I recently rooted my motorola defy+ (mb526). I was messing around freezing unwanted apps with app quarantine and have frozen something is causing the home screen to crash with this error "The application Home (process com.motorola.home) has stopped unexpectedly..."
Since I can't get to the home screen any more I can't unfreeze anything

I would prefer not to factory reset if possible.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

Can you get into your phone settings still? If so you may be able to enable what ever it was that you froze, by going into your application manager (the list for all apps) and finding the one you disabled.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly :)

No luck tho... can't get to the settings. Oddly enough, I'm running ZDBox and can get to it from the drop down menu (probably has a proper name), perhaps there's something in there I can use? Just a thought...

Cheers,

Okay so,

I'm afraid I've rushed into asking for help here, as I have figured it out myself. All the same, I'm impressed that I got a response so quickly. Thanks.

For the record and in case anyone else was stuck like me, ill explain how I did it.

Luckily I have ZDBox installed which I can access from the drop down menu. ZDBox has a task killer which can also launch a program if you long press it on the list. I launched the Play store app from here and uninstalled App Quarantine from there, then reinstalled it to get the "open" option in the play store. With App Quarantine opened I unfroze everything and now have the home screen back. Im still not sure what I froze to cause this, I'll have to read up on this some more before freezing apps again.

Cheers!

Glad to hear it's all sorted out now, matboe. Thanks for posting what you did to fix it; that may be very helpful for others who find themselves with a similar problem.

And welcome to Android Forums! :D
