Help! Forced to iPhone!

Ok I am on my second full day with the iPhone 5.

First observations.... Android is so way ahead of IOS. The biggest gripe is NO NOTIFICATION LIGHT! I also miss my widgets.

I compare this phone to an always open app drawer. There is no way to hide app icons. Everything is just right there if you want it or not.

The screen is very narrow compared to my Androids. Even my Blackberry had the illusion of more space. I also keep finding myself looking for a back button.

This will only be my company phone and I will still need to carry a personal phone. Luckily I will be getting my S4 (maybe next week).

I apologize for the thread necromancy here, but I just found out that my new employer is an iPhone shop, and I'll be receiving my iPhone and Verizon Mifi on Monday.

My personal phone is a Gnote3. My fingers are too large for an iPhone. I can't type on my wife's and after 5 eye surgeries, I cannot see the postage stamp sized screen.

I need an "Android Users' iPhone survival guide" terribly bad. I know that iPhones can't use widgets for some stupid reason. The home screen is full of un-sortable icons and that the reason I need a mifi is because it can't tether (WHAT?!). I think the thing is just going to sit on my desk on the charger and I'll just forward all my calls from it (can it do that?) to my personal device.

iPhones really aren't that bad. They work just as well, if not better, than android phones in many circumstances. The things you use are customizability (which is the reason I chose to go to android) and screen size, depending on what phone you get.

I made my own Zazzle case today.

So my first impressions.

Everything is REALLY small. I really have a hard time reading it and I'm not trying to exaggerate. Using the Galaxy Note 3 then going to the iPhone - it really does feel like a little toy.

I was sent the "5C" and for the life of me I now understand why everyone puts a case on these things. They feel like the business end of a slip-n-slide. It already almost fell out of my hand.

Software wise, I need a back button. I can't stand not having a way to "go back" to where I was. Relying on the home button is terrible from a usability perspective and I keep trying to press next to the home button to try and get it to go back.

The keyboard actually almost made me launch the device through the air. The fact that I can't use a swype/flow type of input is infuriating enough... the fact that there's no number row, no long pressing for numbers, it shows capital letters even though you're in lower case, and the autocorrect silliness is intolerable.

My company requires the use of Touchdown (which, incidentally, gave me the information I needed to connect my Note 3 with touchdown to work.. hee hee) which seems like a totally terrible app.

The app store is unintuitive to use. Somehow I got stuck in "more" options for the app store, and couldn't figure out how to get back to the "home" of the app store. I had to close the app (which is the functionality they stole from Android/Pre with the swiping away of the cards) in order to get to the iTunes home screen.

The settings menu makes ... no sense to me. It desperately needs a search functionality like the Note has. Since the phone came from my employer pre-activated, I had no idea what the number was. I went to settings trying to find where it was displayed. I see General Settings, Cellular Settings and Phone settings.

I go to through the first two before I even saw "phone" settings under app-specific settings (Why are settings for Maps in the stupid "general" settings screen??). I got so frustrated with the inability to find my phone number in the settings that I just called my Note 3 to get the number that way.

So far its been about an hour of use-time since I got it and I already want to launch it into my swimming pool.

Lmao!
Had to share that with the "Amazingly Stupid" G+ community, "Tech Stupid" category :D
Thanks mate

An iPhone! OH THE HORROR! I'd just like to share though that I have a friend who once had an Android but his phone case has an Apple logo. I can't believe he'd do something like that to an Android. Very bad!

That's quite common where I am. Cases for whatever phones with Apple logos, along with Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Prada, etc. Some even put Apple logo stickers on cheap Lenovo laptops, even though they look nothing like Macbooks. Can even buy shirts here with Apple logo shaped buttons...LOL! ...after all this was the country with Apple iPhone gas cookers.

My company is switching to the iPhone from BlackBerry. I am still keeping my Android for personal use. My question is how do I avoid the embarrassment of using an iPhone? Are there any Android cases for the iPhone or something that covers that stupid Apple logo? :puke:

You sound kinda juvenile to me...............
It is something that is required for your work, which means you need it to help make a living.

I see folks with iPhones, Windows phones, Android phones, and I or anyone else I know never give it a second thought.
Why is it so embarrassing to be caught with an iPhone while putting food on your table and putting a roof over your head?

The OP is YEARS old :p

So today... the unthinkable happened.

The stupid phone is so small, so slippery that when I raised it to my head it slid right out of my hand and hit the floor.

Thankfully it bounced off my leg then hit a book I had on the floor and thus avoided damage but ...

Who was the brainiac that decided that putting lubricated plastic on the outside of this phone was a good idea?

when will google get with it... i want an update to my GN3.. to make it waterproof!!
i paid enough $$$ for it.. as much as an iphone5s

Hey If your still looking for a case to cover up that iPhone logo here's one of my co-workers iPhone that covers up the logo.

I did some Research of her ''Ringke Slim'' case.

Its like 10 bucks.

hope this was helpful.
