Root Help! From a noob that went beyond his limits...

So, I erased the original OS on my nook color 1.4.3,tried to installed a few different cyanogenmods, eventually "cm-10.2.1-encore" took. I tried installing "gapps-kk-20140606-signed" with it, but it failed.

Cyan boots now, but immediately upon booting, I get the error " unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped", followed by continual popups of "unfortunately, System UI has stopped." and "unfortunately, Cyanogenmod account has stopped", though I can't click OK on the latter, being the UI error repeatedly comes up.

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong, and more importantly, how I can fix it? Thank you so much in advance for any time and insight you may spend on me.

For one thing, you used the wrong GApps. You installed CM10.2.1, which is Jellybean. The GApps you installed is for Kitkat.

Did you make a nandroid backup of your original Nook OS? You should always do a nandroid backup of your current OS before flashing any new ROMs

What recovery do you have?

*sigh....no...no backup, but I found an option to restore to factory default, which I haven't tried and don't even know if it would restore the original OS.

I have no recovery.

Is the GApps causing the errors?

Thanks so much for your reply!

Ok, what is this "option" to restore to factory default? Is there a link to this "option"?

You would have to have a recovery to install a custom ROM like CM 10.

It is possible that GApps is causing the errors but hard to say for sure since I don't have the Nook Color in front of me.

Have you read through the Nook Color rooting section here? Also, XDA forums may help as there are more active users and developers there.

Ok, thanks. So I erased the OS and installed cm encore 7.2.0 with gapps kk 8.28.11, and its kinda working now, but every app i try gets a "anroid process blah has stopped unexpectedly" with a force close.

any suggestions on what to do now?
Again, a million thanks for all your help.

I think that is the right one according to the CM chart:
Google Apps - CyanogenMod

You may need to wipe data and cache in recovery and reboot.
