Help Help: Galaxy S2 keeps saying it is connected to USB and automatically brings up Car Mode

I have had this trouble for the past few weeks.
I sent it to get looked at, Samsung said there was nothing wrong with it. They updated the firmware and restored to factory conditions and I'm STILL having the same problems!

Does anyone else have these problems and know how to fix them?

Check the USB socket. I had problems with mine and had to clean out the USB socket with an old (and dry!) toothbrush - some crud had got in there and was shorting out some of the connections I think.

Yeah mine does have some dust in it too so I'll give that a go, cheers.
Did you have the trouble with Car Mode constantly enabling itself too?

Yes, it was doing that for a while, and also every time I turned it off it turned back on again even if I took the battery out and left it overnight. It's fine now though - I cured it by taking the battery out as soon as it started up.

Yeah I did what you said and cleaned out the USB socket and I also unticked USB Debugging in the settings to stop the USB application from coming up. This worked for a couple of weeks but now it's bringing up Car Mode and turning itself on again. Looks like I'll have to give it another clean and take out the battery for a couple of hours.

So that's pretty much all I can do then? Is all of this happening because the USB socket is dirty and playing up?

Or the socket may have taken damage from having the other USB cable from the box inserted.

You can root the phone and freeze car mode to kill it too if you want.
