Root help getting gingerbread

Optikn3rv

Newbie
Righty I am a total noob when it comes to this kinda stuff but I am wanting to know how to put android 2.3.3 on my wildfire, it now as 2.2.1
Been reading the revolutionary thing above and installed it (nearly wet my self with terror)so what do I now need to do to install the 2.3.3 droid? and where is the rom I need? or anyone got any tips for nice custom roms for a wildfire.?
any help appreciated.

if you did not allow revolutionary to install clockwork recovery, you will need to do it manually.

once youve done that, you can make a backup of your stock rom,and flash a new rom in recovery after wiping cache/dalvik cache/data.

hopefully the guys here can help you find the links you need to various roms.

to get you started you can find cyanogenmod 7(a gingerbread rom) here: HTC Wildfire | CyanogenMod :)

is there anyway to see if I installed clockwork as I am pretty sure I hit Y at installation.
When I start Hboot up I see the S off bit and have options to Hboot, fastboot, recover, clear storage and simlock

scary start lol,
I tried to start clockwork as below
How to start Clockworkmod:
  1. Unplug USB
  2. Turn the device off
  3. Hold volume down button (HOLD IT) and press power
  4. Hboot will start. Navigate to recovery with the vol down button. Press power to select and enter recovery.
but all that happened is a black phone and red triangle appeared. Removed the battery and phone started ok. I am now trying to install clockwork manually
following the instructions and downloaded the bits I need but the dos command wont run it
fastboot flash recovery /d:/wildfire/cwm-4.0.1.4-buzz.img but get an error it cant determine the img file name for recovery/d:/wildfire/cwm-4.0.1.4-buzz.img any one know how I can check if I did already install clockwork during revolutionary instalation or what I am doing wrong. sorry this might be so simple for u guys lol. All I want to do is install android 2.3.3 over this 2.2.1 I am sure I will brick my wildfire soon ;)

getting there slowly got clockwork running problem was ineed simple
fastboot flash recovery /d:/wildfire/cwm-4.0.1.4-buzz.img
the / in front of the d:/ was the issue so now running the backup function.

glad you are making progress :)

once you have downloaded the most current nightly for your wildfire from the first link, dont forget you must also flash google apps add on or gapps.

you can find gapps in the first post of the nightlys discussion thread, wich is here: [CM7] Discussion of Nightlies - CyanogenMod Forum

i can help with general questions about wiping and flashing, let us know if there is anything else :)
