Root Help -- I think I am Soft Bricked?!

zacerwin

Newbie
The best way to do a factory reset is through the recovery console.

1. Turn off the phone.
2. Hold Volume Up and the Power button to boot the phone into recovery mode.
3. Use the volume rocker to select "Recovery" and press the power button to select it.
4. A triangle exclamation will be on the screen. Hold the power button and press Volume Up to show the recovery menu options.
5. Select Data Wipe/Factory Reset.
6. Reboot the phone (select Reboot).

I am having Major Issues, I can not get passed the Nexus X Loading Screen after my Phone Went into a Weird Slow Motion while Updating ADW I reset it and it wouldn't Get past the X Loading Screen so I did the Steps Above and this is what I get

--Wiping Data
Formatting /data...
E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/platform/s3c-sdhci.0/by-name/userdata
Formatting /cache...
Data Wipe Complete

And nothing Fixes at all

I have also tried today to Install the One Click Stock Rom and I just get Stuck when Installing the System File

Please Help I am a total Noob! I would prefer as much detail as possible

first question... are you rooted? i am guessing you are but making sure

from all i know about rooting and all this stuff, i personally have never formated my data or any of that stuff on my nexus s 4g. i have done that with my hero but i never really saw any forums or posts saying i should format data and others on my nexus..

second question... did you make a nandroid backup at all??? because you could restore to that and see if it works...

I have tried this and when It gets to Loading the System File it Just Freezes

I have also tried the Samsung Version of Returning to Stock

and When it gets to 14% it also Freezes

I need Help I can still boot into bootloader and do anything to that point

HELP! lol I am phoneless cause Sprint Store was pretty useless told me they don't have any of the software to even try to help

do you know how to use odin?

I Thought So I have used it on My Old Intercept... But I tried on this one With Odin 1.82 I am not sure if this is the right one for Samsung Nexus S 4g

But I cannot get it to appear connected when is I Plug In From My Boot Loader Odin just appears Blank with Nothing Connected Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Okay say I actually retried odin I got it to find my Phone and when Installing It Got Stock on the Exact Same Part

System.img it is about 10% the way installing and it freezes just like when I do i the one click... There has got to be something I can install to bypass or something I have no idea whats not allowing it to install!?

This is Where it Sits for Example When I use the Script Above
if your phone is not on the bootloader screen or it stays
on waiting for device for too long then there was an error
with the drivers or its not in fastboot

Press any key to continue . . .
sending 'boot' (2904 KB)...
OKAY [ 2.799s]
writing 'boot'...
OKAY [ 0.452s]
finished. total time: 3.251s
sending 'system' (174451 KB)...
OKAY [168.034s]
writing 'system'...

And this is how it stays for Hours Upon Hours I left it over night once and about 7hours later pulled it after nothing had changed... What can I do?

Also for More Detail.. as soon as it begins Writing the System My Bootloader Freezes.

It sounds to me like you are doing all the right steps but I'm not sure what you are missing for sure the Samsung restore should have work and if not that then the onclick return should return you to stock. I have 1 more idea and that is all I got. I will up-load the Samsung program I have and it might look the same as yours but before you start get a new USB cable and fallow the step by step.
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

For sure get a NEW USB cable trust me on this one it is cheaper then a new phone. I have seen and have it happen to me a cable will work fine for one thing and then I try to use it again it fails.

In my first Post I said I had used that... It gets to about 14% and Freezes... Ill try my MyTouch 4g USB cable but I don't think thats the Problem

Anything else this could be?

And in my post I said it might be the same but try it and a NEW cable and maybe you will have better results. And like I said thats all I got. My big question if you fallow the step by step and not skip anything then this shold work

I have a Windows XP and a Windows 7 64 Bit which should i try it on first with New USB Cable
Whatever system that has the drivers installed and you know was working before. But remember to keep it simple and slow step by step. Do not skip any steps.
