Root Help installing GPA 14 please

I unrooted using the over the air update, installed Pete Alfonsos gpa 14,
and installed his custom kernels. i started with the 1G kernel and have been trying all the others. it all works flawlessly. Pete Alfonso is a perfectionist genius. WORKS PERFECTLY ON FRG83G

At what point did you flash the different kernel? Was it after you logged on the phone for the first time and activated? Or was it immediately after flashing GPA14 before rebooting?

I was unable to activate my phone/ log-on to google after flashing GPA14.

I have 14, but I am using Pete's 1.1 kernel. I booted the ROM first, then REbooted to make sure everything was smooth... then rebooted again and flashed the new kernel. Never had an issue with service, nor with google.

Why did you pick one of chevy's kernels as opposed to using one of Pete's own? Don't see why that specifically could be a problem, as I am using 1.1 and running at 1.1Ghz, but maybe your handset just doesn't like being OC'ed that fast?

Try restoring to whatever you had working just before you flashed GPA14 (you *did* nandroid before you flashed, didn't you?). If that works fine, make a backup of that *before* you flash a kernel. And for the hell of it, reboot your phone a couple of times on that fresh ROM just to make sure. Then, go ahead with a new kernel of your choosing.

The only thing I would add is to make a back up of GPA14 after you flash the ROM and before you flash the kernel. Once the ROM is loaded and is running okay make your backup. Then start flashing kernels. This way you just have to reset back to GPA14 and not reflash the ROM and the kernel.

It helps speed things up and keeps you from having to do wipes of data and cache if you're coming from something other than an earlier GPA ROM.:)
