Ditch Backup Assistant for Google's cloud. Export your BA contacts from Verizon's website, while logged into Backup Assistant, as a .csv file. Log into your Gmail account on your computer and import the .csv file. Your contacts will automatically sync over to your device.

how to get to the place to insert this?

Open K9, it should ask you to set up your email account the first time. Then it should ask if you want to let K9 set it up automatically or manually. Choose manual setup. Use the settings I provided.

If you somehow managed to get your email account setup already, but it's not working, then go to your account, press Menu, More, Settings, Account Settings. Enter the settings I provided under Fetching mail Settings, and Sending mail Settings.
