Help Help installing third party apps

I have been trying to find current info on how to allow the Nook to install 3rd party apps. I have tried things that have said it would allow me to get to the allow unknown sources menu but they have not worked. I would appreciate any help on how to do this. I don't know much about rooting or if I even have to do this or if I even should. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time in advance.

sorry just saw your post.

not sure but i think you will have to root the tablet in order for you to install certain apk's. it will also depend on what apk's you are trying to install.

there is a reason why you can't just readily install apps. some apps are for more robust devices and not for older devices running on older software like the nook hd's
