That means you have the stock recovery. This is because of the RUU that was ran earlier. If you want to get a custom recovery back on you can find instructions in the rooting for dummies guide below. Go with Amon Ra 2.3, it is much better than clockworkmod. Instructions for flashing can either be found in my very first post in this thread or in the guide below as well.

and I have to chuckle a little bit that NOW after all this you are going to install MikG 3.1 that I suggested earlier. You would have saved yourself a lot of headaches by just going that route from the beginning:D

Lol it is funny but does this mean I have to reroot it or just install a new recovery?

Just install the recovery. You still have S-off so you just need to put a custom Recovery and flash a rooted ROM (mikG) to be fully rooted again. You may have to flash the Superuser file in recovery as well.

The link that you keep sending doesnt really say how to install a new recovery while already being rooted so how would I install the new recovery? Also how do I put super user on? And lastly does the MikG ROM have some Sense 3.0 stuff on it?

Same exact method. Download the recovery, rename it to PC36IMG.zip and place on the root of your SD card. Reboot the bootloader and it will scan for it and ask to update. Select YES and then you have your new recovery.

Detailed step-by-step From the guide:
you can get the recovery here:PC36IMG RA 2.3.zip
here are the instructions:
1.download the file.
2.rename the file by erasing the "_RA_2.3" part of the name so that it is only named PC36IMG. make sure not to add ".zip" to the name as windows hides extensions.
3.transfer the file to the root (that means not in any folder) of the sd card.
4.power off (you most likely need to uncheck fastboot. settings/apps/uncheck fastboot.) then press and hold power+vol down.
5.hboot should see the file and select yes to update.
6.select no to reboot because we want to go into recovery and make a nandroid backup.
7.select recovery.
8.select backup and restore and select backup
9. select the first three and wimax. the other partitions do not need to be backed up. always keep one nandroid backup with wimax keys backed up on your computer.
10.now you can reboot.
11.using a file manager of some sort or even through your computer via usb, you should rename or delete the PC36IMG file on your card. otherwise you will be asked to update every time you go to the hboot screen. you do not need that file any more.

You're not already rooted - your NAND is just unlocked. The link Rxpert posted for installing a custom recovery applies to you. The method is for people that are unlocked, but without a custom recovery (or that have a different recovery) - the procedure is the same.

You don't need to worry about superuser, since you'll be flashing a custom ROM that includes it.

And yes, MikG includes some Sense 3.0 elements, but without the heavy memory & storage space toll a full 3.0 ROM would require. It's essentially the best of Sense 2.1+3.0, without all the bloat, and with loads of available tweaks, mods, and themes.

Okay there is only one thing that I dont know, the instructions say "transfer the file to the root (that means not in any folder) of the sd card."
What/where is the root on my SD Card? And I have Winwar on my Computer, so will that affect anything? The reason I am asking is when I put the file on my desktop it is a winwar file????

The section about the root of the SD card just means don't put it in any of the sub-folders on the SD card. Just transfer it to it.

Winrar wont matter, just dont unzip the file, keep it zipped up

And one last question, should I make a backup of my current ROM or anything like that?

Well, you can't make a nandroid until you get a custom recovery on there. Once you get Amon Ra, make a nandroid backup in recovery(select backup&restore) before flashing your ROM.

When making a nandroid leave the first 3 checked & also check wimax

Okay and should I install this custom recovery and the MikG ROM at the same time? or should I install the custom Recovery and install the ROM later?

Okay so I have installed Amon RA and made a Nandroid Backup, now can someone give me a link where I can download the latest version of MikG?

Okay so right now I am waiting for it to download but when I go in to install the new ROM what should I wipe before I install the ROM if anything?

Minimally.... wipe cache, data, & dalvik cache 3x each.

I'd suggest wiping everything except for SD card 2-3 times and then flashing superwipe before flashing the ROM.

Okay I got the MikG ROM onto my HTC Evo 4G! So far I absolutely love it! Thank you guys so much for all of the help! Now am I rooted? Since (if) I am rooted what are some cool things to do? And How do I get free wifi tethering? Thanks you again for all of the great help. And one last thing, should I make a Nandroid back up with this new ROM? If so should I check the same things I did last time? Thanks.

For wifi tethering, simply open up the Sprint Hotspot app. Its that easy.

Other cool apps to check out....
SetCPU (allows you to overclock or underclock your phone)
Ad-free (blocks all those annoying apps in games or online)

Flashing beats audio files

Really just the freedom to do what you want.

Oh yeah, now we get to move on to flashing kernels for better battery life or better performance :D. We're gonna get you hooked real quick ;)

For performance, look into the AnthraX kernel. I get the best battery life out of Lithids Aggressive Freedom

Oh great Lol :D So is flashing a kernal basically the same thing as flashing a Custom ROM? And with the Sprint Wifi Hotspot app I wont get charged for anything right?

Yes.

And do one BEFORE you flash anything, EVERY TIME.

The recovery(Amon RA 2.3 suggested) is the most powerful aspect of having a rooted phone. It allows you to make changes with a safety net, as well as the freedom to quickly go back and forth between different configurations. Learn it, love it.

The sprint hotspot app has been hacked to work without them knowing it. Just don't go overboard with it :D

Flashing kernels is very easy. You wipe only cache and dalvik cache & then flash the kernel

Will this overwrite my last Nandroid Recovery? I would like to have both my old Stock one and my new MikG ROM one if possible.

Could they figure it out if I went "Overboard" with it? What would they do if so?
