Root Help Looking For Thread

About 2 weeks I ago I remember reading a thread about being able to just move your apps over from sd-ext after flashing a new rom versus redownloading from play store or using Titanium Back-up but now I can seem to find it anywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
