I jacked something up while trying to change ROM = got Samsung screen lock = tried CWM / Nandroid Restore = now keeps me in constant loop of logging back into CWM = tried removing battery several times already but still goes right back into CWM everytime = can't connect to computer ( device not recognized ) = HELP

Which version of CW Recovery are you on? What did you try to flash (coming from what)?

Alternatively, use Odin and a .tar file to return to stock. I'm on the phone and can't provide a link, sorry.

The good news is that you aren't bricked!

CWM 2.5.1.0 = tried to use TrulyEpic_Rebirth_v1.5 ( was already using TrulyEpic_v3 ) = after flashing - got stuck on Samsung screen for several minutes = tried doing "restore" but now in recurring reboot to CWM = can't connect phone to PC to try Odin = what do you suggest ?

For Odin, try a different cable/usb port. Make sure you are in DL mode.

If you have an SD card slot in your computer, put an RFS based ROM on your SD card, do the necessary wipes and try again.

I actually tried doing wipes and re-install of TrulyEpic ( I think it is RFS based ) but still get rebooted into CWM : ( I had tried the Odin approach but my computer won't recognize on any USB either : (

I'm gonna have to go to work = stayed up all night trying 2 figure this out ( Thanks for help folks ) --- I'm too much of a noob ; I just rooted my phone on Saturday after getting the OTA Froyo update push from Sprint and liked the TrulyEpic_v3 ROM , so "tried" to upgrade to Rebirth and failed. Can I just take phone back to Sprint after work and have them do reset for me ?

They'll likely look at it and say what'd ya do in a joking manner, and if you have insurance on it, they'll give you a new (read as refurb) epic. if you don't have the insurance, they'll slap a fee on it to get the refurb.

They don't officially support doing stock restores, it's not part of the play book.

I've never heard of someone being able to boot into CMW and NOT into download mode....that's just....odd. Are you sure you're doing it correctly (holding down the "1" key while powering up the phone)? If you can boot into CMW, surely you should be able to get into download mode and get your PC to see your phone? Very strange....

OK - I'm back home from work now = ready for anyone's help. I called Sprint = no go ( we already knew that though ). I'm gonna use my daughter's lap top to try to get into Odin this my computer still won't recognize the USB / Phone. I'm gonna read some forums and YouTubes to try and help - but PLEASE jump in at any time to help me out. Again , I just rooted my phone this weekend and had TrulyEpic_v3 working fine but then jacked things up trying to get TrulyEpic_Rebirth _v1.5 = that led to frozen Samgung screen , so I tried CWM Recovery , but that just threw me into non-ending reboot back into CWM

OK = update = still stuck. I tried doing Odin from my daughter's laptop , but that didn't work. I tried adding RFS based ROM onto my card via adaptor on laptop ( rerfs.format.rom.dk28 ) , but that installed and rebooted me right back into CWM again .... AARRHHGGGGG

I had similar problems and either one or a combination of these worked:

- using a different USB port
- disabling the antivirus on my computer
- taking the battery out of the phone (just using usb cable for power)

I loaded Odin on Laptop , but seems the PIT and TAR files may have been incorrect because even though Odin ran and completed fine , phone STILL booted into CWM = I am now downloading "SPH-D700-EB13-8Gb-REL.tar.md5" to see if that one will work better but it's taking a LONG time to download ( is that the right one ? )

HURRAY ! I finally got in thru Odin using the correct pit / tar files this time + THX 2 everyone who took the time to help
