I have done a little research on all of the tablet pcs offered right now and have been finding it hard to decide on one for Xmas. Maybe you guys could help out. I have narrowed my decisions down to three optioins the Samsung G Tab, and the Archos 101,70 I know the Gtab costs monthly and has built in 3g and I have had a chance to play with one at best buy and i loved it. On the other hand I have been hearing good things about the Archos 70,101 but have only seen youtube videos and a little chat. Which is superior IYHO. I really want one of these bad boys but with CES coming up will I be disappointed with all the new tablets coming out?

I personally think the Archos tabs have better chance of being upgraded to those then a Samsung product.
I agree though that the Archos are good choice for a "right now" mentality. I think that Galaxy Tab is nice but within 6 months will likely be dominated in the marketplace.
Archos seems hard to find though, if you want before Christmas then Galaxy might be your only option.
If you can afford the Galaxy and think its worth the money then by all means grab that one. Its a well made device, I personally don't trust Samsung on updates but even without updates it currently works fairly well.
I personally wouldn't lock into two years for it though.

i wouldn't sign a contract either, i don't want a tablet with 3g anyways. i just meant hardware wise the samsung had a better chance of upgrades, i know samsung sucks on updates...
If you want something that's worth the money now... and are considering a 7" then I'll add one...

The Wits is a Really nice tablet for the money ($204) if you're looking for a 7in. A8... I have an A81E.. little older model... 1850 quadrant score Not Overclocked (720Mhz running latest 1122 firmware)... I got 2350 OC'd to 1Ghz... Graphics scores are really good! Fit's in a jacket pocket... GPS is a bit weak but works...
For a 10" and willing to spend more... for $379-399 (Sears, Staples, Office-Max) I'm loving my Viewsonic Gtab... out of the box the software it HORRIBLE... but in first 3 weeks we have 3 custom roms that are so far better than stock... 2400 Quadrant score... Tegra2 proc is a bit ahead of the times but OS is starting to catch up... The specs will make it viable for a long time... Yes, the viewing angles are weak... but otherwise it's tops...

if you're gonna be spending in the 400-500 range anyways there is really no reason to not wait a little longer and get the Notion Ink Adam it really is far superior to any tablet out or about to be out.
I do agree the interiors of the Samsung are better. I think that it will be far surpassed by new tablets in the coming months and in my eyes the Galaxy tab just is not worth the huge price and/or 2 year contract.
Have they announced pricing/release date for the Adam yet? Looks like a nice tablet.

I do agree that the Adam looks like it has a ton of potential, but what do we know about Notion Ink as a company? Not much, I plan on waiting until it's released and we know a little more about it.

that is tru but i am hopeful that notion ink will be a respectable company. the lst thing they could ever want is a bad first impression.

I think that's a great idea especially if you're not in a hurry. I might go to CES this year. I want to check out the Tegra 2 devices.
Same problem here, it's really hard to make a dicision, i do a lot of research and finally focused on these two device:
A 7" one with multitouch screen: Android 2.1 Tablet PC with Multi Touch Screen and HDMI Interface Output
A8" one with android 2.2 OS: Android 2.2 OS 512 RAM with Freescale iMX515 Cortex A8 Processor Tablet PC M8003
So, which one would you prefer? any suggestions would be appreciated.
No comparison in my book really (except price);
$156 7", Telechip 8902/ARM11, 256MB 2.1
$218 8", Freescale A8, 512MB, 2.2
The CPU is a generation newer in the Freescale (thus can support Flash and better perf) and it has more memory which is better, along with 2.2 which is a big win... There comment in A8 "A8 core is also known as four-fold increase than the ARM11 core, ... " may be a bit of a stretch But it's a big difference...
In reference to the Norton Ink Adam tablet, this latest interview with the CEO provides a few insights. its unlocked and should work on most 3G/GSM networks.
It has their enhance Android OS called Eden and this question was asked..
Q:How will Notion Ink handle Android OS upgrades so customers get them in a timely manner?
A:We have kept Eden fairly independent of the OS layer, which makes it extremely easy for us, to upgrade the underlying OS and deliver faster updates.,
Q:Will the adam support Google Apps such as the Market and Google Goggles?
A:Adam supports Google Apps, but Google need to open their Market for Tablets. This will get resolved with Honeycomb.
Speaking of which, in another interview, the CEO stated that Eden is more closer to Honeycomb than Gingerbread, so that basically it can be upgraded to that OS. If true, then the Adam is a smart choice since it won't be so obsolete in a few months when the Honeycomb tabs come out.

Looking forward to hearing your reiew/feedback! The A8 seems to me spec wise to be the best of the ~$200 tablets you can find right now... it may look fairly similar to a lot of the just under priced tablets but should seriously outperform the rest.
