Help help me root!

So I want to connect my PS3 controller to my new Galaxy Nexus, but when I use Sixaxis Compatibility Checker, it tells me that my phones needs to be rooted. So now I want to root my phone just for this reason (and for future customization).

I currently have

GSM Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ from google store.

Android version: 4.1.1

Build number: JR003C

Can someone give me a single step by step guide to doing this. TY in advance.

I'm afraid there is no easy quick way for a novice. You have to read up on the matter and I suggest you start here http://androidforums.com/internatio...ll-things-root-guide-updated-8-25-2012-a.html as ScaryAlien has probably put together one of the most comprehensive guides on the subject of rooting.

The most effictive way of rooting in my opinion is still the adb direct communication with your phone, however, this means that you have to download and install all required tools and drivers yourself and use linux commnads in a command window on your PC. This might be a big ask and it is where these AIO tools come in to help.

The only one that I have tried is available from here [GNex TOOLKIT V7.8] Drivers, Backup, Unlock, Root, CWM, Flash, Mods + MUCH MORE [GSM] - xda-developers at XDA developers - I trust that everything you need to do with it is pretty self-explanatory and if you think it is not then I'd strongly suggest to keep clear of rooting (no offence intended, just to safe you from any grief).

Once you have ventured into rooting and flashing ROMs it is very simply to get your phone to do pretty much anything to suit you. Good luck.
