Help help my droid..?

Hey everyone i just downloaded the 2.1 update to my phone but whenever i try to do the power and hold X it NEVER works just goest to the main screen.....am i doing something wrong or are there any alternatives???

Are you trying to boot into recovery? If so, press the power and camera button at the same time.
