Help Help needed about email problems

Hi,
This is my first time on this forum and am looking for some help with my Optimus S phone. First off I keep loosing space on my phone. I keep up to date with deleting caches, histories, etc. and I don't constantly add aps without moving them to my SD card, but I think the problem lies with my email accounts. In my personal email folders it says I have over 2000 messages in the trash and I don't know if there is an easier way to delete them other than one at a time. Also do I have to delete my emails twice to get them off my phone's memory (once from inbox, and once from trash)? Is there an easier way? Any advise is welcome and appreciated.

When I linked into my cable email, I got about a thousand that had been hiding in long-forgotten folders. And yes, as far as I could tell, the only way I could find to delete them is the way you described. So it can be done, just another hassle...
