Help needed for my first ever android

shubham07

Newbie
I am very confused about choosing my first android . Can somebody please suggest me some dual core phones under 20k INR. My requirements is that it should be able to handle any multimedia related task without any lag including mild to heavy graphics task(gaming) and ICS.

Sorry about the price thing as I am from India. It should be around 350$.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. :)

What carrier are you on? You can go here Android Phones
and find all sorts of nice phones and pick what carrier you are on too.
I have some suggestions too. :)

ICS... no lag with media and games..
only high end phones will meet these needs at this time. ICS is only on newer phones.

so, the $350 max is the big issue.
wait till end of year, you might be able to find phones to match that.

In India the system is little bit different :(. We first buy a unlocked phone and then decide the carrier. Only 10% of the phones are released with carrier partnership. So in simple words i need an unlocked phone.

Well then I have to lower my expectations :dong:. But $20 up down is accepted.

BTW Whats your opinion about the xperia p or sola and u?

I have heard from somebody that Tegra 2 is good in graphics wise performance.....???

If yes, then what about lg optimus 2X or maybe 3D......???

You should look at a Galaxy S Advance, or whatever its called it your country (its a Galaxy R in other countries). Dual core 1Ghz, Tegra 2 chip. PHP and INR have almost the same value, and it costs 22k here. Its on Gingerbread, but its hardware is capable of ICS so if it doesn't get it officially, you can always install a custom ROM.

Otherwise you'll be looking at Sony phones which are single cores for assured ICS.

Basically, at your price point, you don't have many phones with great capabilities that are assured of ICS.

Galaxy R was my first choice but it is discontinued here.

And we also have S Advance(which is announced after R) but it is some where near to S2.

About the sony, we do have 3 xperia NXT series phones(U, Sola and P in my budget) and they all are dual core with promised ICS upgrade :). But since they are recently launched, there is no 'hands on'(final model) review about their performance :(.

Have you looked at the International version of the Galaxy S2?
I'm afraid I don't know too many unlocked phones like the one you're looking for. Sorry. :(

Ok, to make it easier for me and you guys, i ve narrowed it down to :

Optimus 2X or 3D
Xperia U or Sola (P is still not available here)
Galaxy S Plus

These Phones also attracted my attention but they are little old(Single Core....???):

Desire HD
One V
Streak 5
Ace plus

Which one is best? (preferred: CPU performance)

Also new suggestions are most welcome :)

The Galaxy S Plus seems like a good choice as well as the Optimus perhaps.
HTC phones like the Desire are great and you can't go wrong with the desire either.

Thnxx but i m more leaned towards xperia and optimus as they all are dual core and performance(graphics) really matters to me. So i cn give up the 4.3" screen of desire to 3.7" of sola.:D

You want a $600 phone for $350? You want to put a low cap on the price, but you want a superphone?

Try the pawn shops next year.

Well, not every good performing phone costs $600(Galaxy R maybe under $400). I just want a phone which can do the job without hiccups whenever i play a video or game.

And Thnx a lot for your precious advice but i need a phone by this month not next year.........!!!!

EDIT: Btw the price cap is because i m a student not some employee with high salary.
