Help Help Needed.... samsung galaxy s2 no sim error...

hi everyone... this is my first post here... i have a samsung galaxy S2 gt-i9100 ... i am having an issue which noone else seems to have... please read what i am trying to say... i bought this mobile brand new, factory unlocked and now my warrenty is long gone.... i have never dropped it or wet issues.... now to tell the truth i did install an official firmware xxlp7 4.0.3 in may 2012... i live in pakistan and this firmware was for uk region... i used odin to flash it... the mobile worked fine till 5th october 2012... on this date i got a message that there is a software update... this was for 4.0.4... i went ahead and installed it.... after installing the mobile restarted and the mobile worked for only 1-2 mins showing me signals and then it happened.... NO SIM... cannot txt or call... it says not registered on network... even cant get a dial tone if i call emergency... :( from dat day till now i cant make my s2 catch signals.... i tried the battery takeout, factory reset, hard reset, wipe data from recovery mode, using different sims, cleaning sim contacts, all sims work on other mobiles and have perfect reception. the following is what ive tried,

1. flashing new firmwares using odin. (have tried my stock firmware and almost 15 firmwares)
2. flashing insecure kernels using odin to root my mobile.
3. using GS2_Repair from market
4. using efs_pro software.
5. using different modems or phones via odin.

now there is more to it please read,
when ever i open status it shows the followin,

Network = Unknown
Signal strength = -69 dBm 22asu (changes a lot but remains in 65 to 75)
Mobile network type = GPRS:1
Service State = Out of service
Roaming = not roaming
Mobile Network state = Disconnected
My phone Number = Unkknown
IMEI = 359****************** which is totally correct
IMEI SV = 01

PLEASE NOTE THAT MY IMEI NUMBER IS JUST FINE AND WHEN I TRY THE SECRET CODES FOR LOCK CHECK CODES IT IS ALL OFF,.....

IVE READ THOUSANDS OF FORUMS EITHER THEY DONT HAVE BASEBAND OR IMIE BUT NOONE HAD MY PROBLEM.... AND FINALLY AFTER READING DAY AND NIGHT I THOUGHT OF WRITING A FORUM MYSELF...

Hi zayedaleem :hello: and welcome to the forums.

The only thing I can think to check would be your APN settings and see if they are correct, under settings > wireless and network > mobile networks > access point names. Whoever your carrier is should have the required settings somewhere you can check.

I have no idea if your problem could be related to that. Even with no warranty, Samsung would probably still fix it for you, just not for free.

thankyou for the reply... i cant go in the MOBILE NETWORK settings... I gives the error... INSERT SIM CARD TO ACCESS NETWORK SERVICES... :( please can you persuade a couple of senior ppl to view and help out... really appericiate it... thanks...

Honestly at this point, I'd call Samsung or your provider...Seeing as it was a software update that seems to have caused the issue.

When doing the update, did you turn the phone off before it finished installing updates? I know that can cause an issue...

Does your SIM Card work in another device?

I'm not too familiar with GSM phones...but perhaps those are good places to start...

May sound odd, but I've heard others (with a different phone) who have had a similar problem with the SIM not being recognised. A thin piece of card behind the SIM card, so that it forces it against the contacts of the phone could solve the issue where it's saying "Insert SIM card..." - worth a try at least!

I don't actually have any experience with your phone though... sorry!

OH. Before I forget to add in on this again...

Samsung gives free technical support ;) Repair costs, is another thing. But if you call them, its totally free. So I say call them!

Reminds me a little of what I once did when I flashed an incompatible RIL on my phone (HTC - I also don't know Samsung). But in that case a reboot would give me signal for a minute or so each time. Also the RIL's part of the ROM, so I'd expect that if that was the cause your flashing of ROMs and radios would at some point have fixed it.

That's what's odd - it seems to be software that broke it, but you'd expect a complete reflash to stock would fix that...

When flashing new firmware did it reflash your baseband? As you said this seems to be an uncommon problem, so I am thinking maybe the radio is misreporting the sim.. (im totally guessing here but the only thing I didn't see you say you did was reflash the baseband).

My samsung galaxy s2 has did the same thing two days ago, 24th Oct 2012, its like it doesn't realise the sim card is inserted. I didn;t do anything with regards dropping it or getting it wet, it worked, I put it on to charge, when it had finished the reception had gone and has never come back. Now it says its on flight mode, whether the flight mode is on or not. If I try to access the "Mobile Network" settings it says "insert sim card to access network services". I've never rooted the phone or done anything special with it. However 3 or so weeks ago I did get a service message on the phone saying there was new firmware available which I installed (not sure if it was successfull or not but I certainly didn;t stop it or let the battery run out etc wwhen it was trying). Phone worked fine since I bought it until two days ago... Everything else still does work fine (apart from battery seems a bit erratic now which it wasn't before)... Very strange!!!

where did u buy ur phone? i got mine at expansys.ca

My Galaxy S2 has also suddenly done the same thing.

I recharged on 30th Oct 2012. It then said no single and the aeroplane mode icon came up. (its not in aeroplane mode) I can use wifi but make no telephone calls etc.

When I go into "Mobile Network" settings it says "insert sim card to access network services". I have checked the sim on another phone and it works fine.

Any ideas?

I have the same issue since yesterday. Started with No sim card, and then went to flight mode after I reseated the battery and SIm. I did a factory reset, it went back to No sim card. Not sure if any latest update caused this. At the moment I have given it to a service center in Bangalore. Hope a fresh update will fix the problem.

I believe there is a bug in the software that causes this issue. In my case I've experienced this problem if I take my phone out of the country and turn it on. This has happened the last two times I went to Asia and last time to Europe. Mine is from Tmobile with international roaming disabled. They've replaced the phone twice because of this issue. I have not made any changes with the ROM and it's running gingerbread in the factory config.

I was able to revive it before from this issue by I believe inserting another carriers sim in it and then switching back to the Tmobile sim. Their employees are clueless on this issue though and just replace the phone.

I have the same issue since yesterday. I was in a long conversation and all of the sudden signal dropped. Tried reconnecting, it did, but only for a few seconds then it dropped again. Rebooted, reinserted the SIM, went to the operator and replaced the SIM card with a new one, tried a different SIM in my phone and nothing solved the problem - I get the bars for 1-2 seconds and then no signal for 10-15 seconds.

What is even strange, after I left the operator store with the new SIM card and convinced that the phone is crashed, the signal came back and stayed for several hours, therefore it made me think it was a Network issue and I was happy, BUT NOT FOR LONG. The problem came back shortly after and right not the phone is unusable and the battery is draining quick.

Let me know if you find anything.. I'm thinking of trying a factory reset but I was so mad after the last one because I had to re-install all applications manually and there were no settings or passwords saved with my Google account, nothing was restored, don't know why.

Factory reset didn't solve anything, network service comes back every 15 seconds and only stays for a fraction of a second, afterwards it is lost again. Going into Mobile Networks it gives me the "Please insert a SIM card.." message and only for that fraction of a second when connectivity is restored it will enter the menu, but everything is blurred.

I'm almost convinced this is a hardware issue caused by heating, because if all started when the phone was laying on the bed sheets with the speaker on, during a long conference call, wireless was on also, it was really hot on the back when my service dropped the first time and since then I have the issue -> phone is unusable.
