Help HELP needed serious battery drain on Nexus 7 2013

Ok, I am new to this forum, but I know that this is designed for android users and you guys can probably help me out or share similar experiences with your N7 2013. So, I realizes the battery goes down very fast on my Nexus 7, even faster than my dad's. So I decided to conduct a test, overnight I made sure they were both wifi disabled, same brightness and sound (though it wouldn't matter since it's in sleep mode), disabled notifications, all at the same settings and all started from 100%. This morning, my dad's Nexus 7 was 96 percent while mine was 88 almost 87 percent. It dropped massively doing nothing in sleep mode. And it couldn't be an app cause the ones that causing it is table idle. I don't know, so I checked with an app, and they both were 4.2 , 3950 mah battery, about same temp, and stuff. So is it because my tablet has a damaged/defective battery of some sort so something else? I'm really nervous about it.

Im just guessing but do you have more social network apps (or similar) than your dad?
These will wake the CPU to check for notifications even though the screen and wifi is off.
Try running the app Wakelock Detector to see whats causing these "partial wakelocks"

Thank god someone replied. Thank you for giving me some advice but my dad doesn't have any social media (facebook, twitter, etc) on his tablet and I did a factory reset on mine before starting the test.

Right so you had no user apps on yours but your dads still had better battery?
Android has to "learn" your battery so it can estimate the percentage of your battery.
After resetting it, it has to learn again so its gona need a full charge, full discharge, then another full charge before you get accurate results

Yes 4.2 volts, you are right. It was even worse before I reset it. So resetting it would probably help since I thought maybe because of the many apps I had. I charged it to full already and used for a very short period of time. I will probably folloe your advice of letting it all the way to 0% so then it would learn. BTW, does downloading an app (large one) while in sleep use the battery a bit?

Also, I am coming to think my battery health is not exactly that good anymore, I have justused a battery docter, and optimized both tablets and both are at 100%, it estimated that my dad's will last around 37 hours and mine only 27 or 28 hours, though it did say that both health are good.

People say not to trust software to be accurate but 10 hours is a big difference, and when I use my table I feel going to 98% fast while my dad's is still 100%.

My tablet has been sitting idle at 0% for a few weeks since I was out of home for a trip, could that have effected the battery health. It's weird cause battery docter measures it as good.

I am trying to give you all the information I know of my N7 status since you seem to know a lot more tha me. I do have a special accidental warranty and still have the Asus warranty, so if the tablet is damaged, I hope it shouldn't really be a problem. Tell me what you think.

Yeah I know, but it really shouldn't do much to the battery I heard and when I tested it, it still said good health. So I heard it shouldn't affect the battery, I have stopped doing that though. I did a battery test with an app called battery compare or something, it seems as if my nexus and my dads bpth drained 1% in 2.75 hours. So I feel a bit better abot it. Maybe funky was right about the it had to read my battery, battery docter could have been really inaccurate of some sort, and yeah. But my warranties expires in like October and I will still run some tests to make sure, because It could be a hardware issue like the battery being defective or damaged. If you guys can stil) give out some helpful info, thoughts, reasons, or advice on this thread, I will read it. Thanks.

Have you tried running a monitor like GSam Battery Monitor or Wakelock Detector to get a bit more info on what is using your battery, whether something is keeping it awake, etc? I'd do that before assuming a hardware fault.

Alright, I'll try those apps before any decision made to send Asus an RMA and ruin some guys day working "technical shift". Or giving Bestbuy another tablet to fix for nothing or so.
I have to sure. I'll tell the results on this forum though.

Battery doctor was what I meant. This thread seems abandoned but I'll say it anyways. Our discharging time was pretty similar, but still going to run some tests. Mine ended up 96%, my dad 97% but it seems my dad's last longer when I use. Weird. Then now both are 88%.
