Root Help needed to root

I keep trying to follow the steps to root my phone :confused:. I just wanted to get rid of a few annoying METRO apps. Unfortunately, every time I try, even after saying my phone has been rooted, I still cannot un-install these apps. Any responses PLEASE use plain english as i am not really up on the computer lingo (sorry but thanks!!)

NOTES:
Yes I had my application settings on USB debugging
Yes my connectivity settings were on Internet connection
Yes my SD card was un-mounted

You have to download an application called rom toolbox.
It will allow you to uninstall the system apps.

Thanks for your help!! I did see another thread about what was safe to remove so I'm just going to follow that until i get a little more familiar with my options. *p.s. imma gal lol*
