Root Help needed. Trying to backup and flash...

Ok, I am a NOOB to all of this. I had Fedora 13 (? I think...) for awhile on my laptop but I couldn't do some things I needed to for some side jobs so I reverted :( back to XP SP3. I do have .NET 2 and JRD or whatever the Java development thingy is.

I can read and write PHP but this is confusing me...

Phone stats: Android Version, 2.2.2
Build Number, FRG83G
SW Version, VS740ZVE

On my phone, I am rooted and have ROM Manager, Titanium Back-up, and SuperUser in my apps.

I have made a nandroid back-up. When I did it, I did not select any of the other "options" so to speak. Should I have?

Do I need to flash back to 2.2.1? If so I am having problems. The LG S/W Updater gets to download and says "Problem with Communication between cell phone and PC" then gives instructions to pull battery, turn back on, and Retry. The phone says "Searching for signal" before this happens.

If I don't need to go backwards, then I think I can find my way from here.

Thanks!

Which Rom are you flashing? If it is Velocity 1.1 or 1.2, or is stormdroid (I believe) then I dont think you need to go back to 2.2.1 I think that is just to get fastboot back if your phone doesnt have it.

when doing the Nandroid backup I would do everything except sd_ext. If you dont have that on your phone and try to back it up it will error out. If you havent done any repartitioning on your sd card you wont have it.

Just remember to run the velocity scripts to get hem up to v39 to avoid application issues and update nags
