Root Help needed - trying to root

I've had my desire for a while and I love it but I'm down to 10 mb of internal storage and it's getting annoying not having enough space to update apps or having to uninstall apps to get updates. I'm trying to root and I've been reading through this forum but I still don't know what to do. All I need is someone to point me to a simple guide that would work for me based on my information below:


Android version: 2.2
Baseband version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel version: 2.6.32.15-gf5a401c htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
Build number 2.29.405.2 CL263770 release-keys
Software number: 2.29.405.2
Browser version: Webkit 3.1

BTW my phone is fro telus and I had a friend unbranded it by flashing 2.29.405.2 on it.

A gentleman called SUroot has posted some handy guides here

The actual rooting process is very straight forward. It just seems very involved and complicated because of all the new jargon you have to get used to (flashing, ROMs, wiping, Recovery etc.)

Just read the FAQs, follow the guides to the letter and you'll be right as rain. And ask here if you're unsure about anything.
