My husband just got a Droid and a case with magnetic closure. Each time he takes the droid out of the case, the car docking mode and/or the mulitmedia dock start up. Is there a way to disable the automatic docking via magnets feature, or is it automatic when the magnet is touched. Is this just a situation of a feature that is meant to simplify that is making like difficult! TIA!

As far as I know, there is not an option for disabling the functionality of the Droid's magnets. You can remove the car or multimedia dock apps from the phone but you need to be rooted to remove the files. Even still, I think it would turn your screen on and off every time you take your phone in or out of the case.
My advice is to buy the holster/case combo that Verizon sells specifically for the droid if he needs a case. I just use a clear case and pocket the phone but I have my work phone in a magnetic case that I wear on my belt...so I understand why people like to wear it on their hip.
Maybe someone is aware of an app to disable this...but I am not aware of one.

That is why Verizon specifically recommends against getting phone cases with magnetic closures.
I would be interested if someone had one that didn't have velcro or magnets... but what else is there? snaps?
