Help Help needed with SIM lock please

Hello again.

I have a problem. I have now got a Note 2 N7105 in the UK

I had my SIM cut to fit. I was 'told' the phone was unlocked

Guess what :) It's not

Its running 4.3

All the guides I have read say you need to go back down to 4.1.1

But all the files are, or where, hosted on Hotfile and the likes. All of which are now closed down.

The rooting and putting CWM touch recovery on I can do. I just can't find a UK 4.1.1 ROM anywhere.

Does anyone here have any links to one I can use please ? I use Odin so a ,tzr file would be good.

I don't know what you mean with "Nothing", there are a number of versions, at least for EVR, H3G and VOD. If you don't know your CSC, dial *#1234# on your phone key pad and it wil give you the CSC. I would however be very careful downgrading from 4.3 to 4.1, There is a big risk of bricking your phone. Here is a link [FONT=&quot]Firmwares | SamMobile[/FONT]

Sorry, but you haven't made it clear what you mean by "unlocked". Is it the bootloader you expected to be unlocked, therefore enabling flashing of custom ROMs or is it the carrier unlock to enable you the use different SIMs?

If it's the former then you need not downgrade just flash a custom recovery and then a custom ROM that is already rooted - there are many available on XDA. If it's the latter then flashing a ROM won't remove the SIM-lock, however, there are many services offering safe methods to unlock your phone (legal in Europe).

I can root and put custom ROMS on no probs. I just can't find any now for 4.1.1 that doesn't use any of the now banned sites.
 
Well the only route I know now is

Root phone with

CF-Auto-Root-t0lte-t0ltexx-gtn7105

Install CWM touch

Boot into recover.

Try and run ROM from SD Card to downgrade.

N7105XXALIJ_N7105EVRALIC_EVR

Does that sound OK ?

I usually use Odin but again I can't find any files that work on Odin for 4.1.1
 
Well Ive rooted it and put on CWM and all is fine, but

It won't install the 4.1.1 , says its not correct


There's no way this is maybe a Odin file or through Keis only ?
 
The one you download from SamMobile is a zip file. You'll have to unzip it, and you will find a .tar.md5 file. This one you flash with Odin. Why did you root?
 
OK. Odin worked :)

SIM unlock *# code worked :)

Phone now working, but on 4.1.1

I rooted it to save my EFS folder. I know it would re root as soon as I put the 4.1.1 on.

Plan now is to update to whatever Kies gives me. Then re root and use Titanium to remove all the Samsung rubbish.
