HELP! No Service!

YPA

Newbie
I tried to install Cyanogen on my phone but when the phone rebooted it wouldn't go pass load up just stick to the first splash screen.

After 15 mins or so I decided to try to boot up again and the same thing happened.

I decided to reset my phone and load up my backup from CWM and everything looks right except for the fact that I now how no service.

I've tried the sim in my other phone and it worked and I also tried another sim in this phone and still nothing.

I tried to factory reset from the 'privacy' menu in settings but some reason Samsung won't let me do it as I get 'processing failed' message.

I would really appreciate some help.

I've been scourering the internet and found out that my IMEI got erased by Odin do to something.

Is there a way to put my IMEI number back in?

I'm not sure how you would do it unless you backed up your efs folder manually or you have flashed one of the siyah kernels in the past as this backs it up automatically.

Go to keypad dialler and typr in... *#06#

This should display your IMEI no:

This might be a good time to abandon trying to salvage CyanogenMod flash and just go for a straight official firmware flash using Odin.

For details, downloads and instructions on Official Firmware, see here:-

Good luck. Hope this helps. :D

I used that and IMEI came as blank.

I tried using that method before but halfway through Odin the phone crashed and I had to reinstall one of the other kernels through Odin to get it to boot up again.

Thanks for all the help.

I decided to send the phone in to Samsung on a hope and I got it back today restored.

Woo!

This time the first thing I've done after rooting was backup the damn efs folder so this shouldn't happen again. Hopefully.

Wow, I'm surprised they fixed it for you, considering what you were trying to do when it broke :P

Good work!

Lucky mate. this is the most common problem with rooting right now. and also one easily averted with the right knowledge.
