Root Help - Not sure what .sbf to use, currently stuck in boot loop

Hello, i've got a droid x that i used z4root to root a few months ago. recently i upgraded to gingerbread stupidly without knowing that it's currently unrootable. So obviously i have to sbf to froyo again, and then reroot that, and go from there.

I tried the linux cd boot-baby-boot option which did not work. So I am trying the RSD Lite way. It's running and i'm getting 'passed' messages, but now my phone just boots into the bootloader and is stuck in a boot loop. I'm not sure what to do now, it sounds like the phone is supposed to just reboot, or i'm supposed to get a menu that lets me factory reset it, but i get no reboot or menu regardless of what buttons i push. I'm sure its something obvoius im forgetting to do that is mentioned 10 times on the forum, but i tried for an hour now to no avail and hopefully someone can push me in the right direction.

I'm using this website:
SBF
and the first two links to do this SBF (one is the program, the second link is the .sbf im using, i have no idea which one to pick, maybe someone can help)

thanks so much in advance, again sorry if this is posted ten times in the stickies but i tried all i found and nothing worked. THanks!!

Please, can someone help me figure out which .sbf to use, and why it is not flashing/resetting properly?

Sorry.... I just read your entire first post... you just need to wipe data/cache...

-when all is finished your phone will power off and back on... unplug it and pull the battery. put the battery back in and hold down the home button while you power the device back on... keep holding the home button till you see a triangle with an exclamation point, then let go and hit the search button once. use the volume buttons to move down to "wipe data/cache" press the camera button halfway down (it has 2 sensitivities, just like a point and shoot camera does to focus) then scroll down to "yes" and do a half press again. (if upon the first selection it returns back to the main screen quickly you pressed too hard and accidentally selected "no" instead of yes.) when it finishes (2 - 3 minutes) select "reboot" using the camera button again.
-it will reboot and take a while to do so.

The SBF was successful if your phone reboots.... all you have to do is wipe data/cache and it will boot normally... once you wipe it, it will take a long time to boot the next time... just give it a while (10 mins max)

Right now, after i pull the battery and put it in,

if i hold the home button (second button from the right, on the front side of the phone) and then power it on, it goes to the boot loader screen. (still holding the home button) .. i wait and wait, and nothing happens. it just says

boot loader 30.04,

err:a5,70,70,00,1f

MEM_MAP Blank
Service Req'd
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable

i cant get it to do anything besides loading this screen, whether or not i hold button combos or anything. you amended some of your statements above, should i try re-sbfing? I've used the program i downloaded (im windows 7 by the way) a few times, but that was before you said anything. it always says success, and im left with this. I think i may have done it wrong the first time, but it even still said success. I'm still not sure what to do :<

thanks so much again

edit: after using that tool, i never saw my homescreen again, so maybe hte sbf failed? i could be using hte wrong .sbf. i'm not sure. i'll try it again with the one you mentioned above.

ERRRRR... is a bad thing... you need to sbf again... I recommend figureing out the Linux SBF... it is so much easier... but the link above in my second post contains the correct RSD lite file... make sure you have the right drivers and run RSD Lite in administrator mode.

That SBF website was just unclear at some point. It said to unplug/turn off/etc at 6%. waht it meant was, at some point after 6% it'll enter a boot loop, and THEN proceed to the next step. Anyways, i had crashed it once, and had to do that all again another time and let it go indefinitely which was not what it said to do really; but anyways, i got into the menus where i held home, and now its wiping the data cache. The instructions you wrote to go from tthe battery pull part, to the menu parts, were much more informative. I'm not even a layman i'm a programmer myself, just the guides on that other website that we referred to were not written intuitively. Anyways, thanks again for your help that was the issue. I'm up and running now!

still not rooted at this point, but i've done this part before , hopefully no more problems arise. thanks again.
