Newbie
I have a sprint lg volt, and im trying to make it work with boost mobile....

whats the easiest way to unlock the phone and make it work through boost mobile

im willing to give $5 for anyone that can give me a link to a guide that actually works up to date

my lg volt is updated up to date and the latest version of towel root does not work on it to root it

Will rooting the phone allow me to unlock the phone? if so what can i do after the phone is rooted to unlock it or flash it to boost mobile?

In order to "unlock" the phone from a specific carrier you would need to call the original carrier of the phone and they will be able to provide you with an unlock code. Now granted just because then phone is now unlocked doesn't mean that it will work with the carrier you choose. You should be able to unlock the phone from sprint and use boost considering its the same network. If none of the above works then you can try flashing the phone over to Boost.

Boost will not activate a non Boost phone. 'Flashing' it to Boost is illegal and not discussed here.

Not true. Here's a very recent conversation I had with a Boost rep on FB. There are some Sprint phones that Boost will activate on their service. Sadly for the OP, the Volt isn't one of them.

Was unaware that "flashing" was illegal. Lots of company's allow you to bring a phone to them and the "flash" it over to there services.

Flashing a phone to another carrier is not illegal but if it starts to involve cloning and changing serial numbers, then it becomes illegal and can't be discussed here.

That's not flashing it to another carrier. That's just what happens after activating it on another carrier.

That is what I am referring to. If the carrier won't activate activate the phone, that is what you have to do.

I have a fully working boost mobile volt motherboard that I'm willing to part with as long as you don't mind paying for shipping. The only thing I'd ask for in return is your sprint motherboard.

Why not just trade phones then?
Because I need to keep the case for warranty purposes. Also the screen has a dead pixel.

I bought the phone for spare parts and ended up swapping motherboards with my virgin phone so I have a white boost phone and a black virgin phone
