Help HELP! OTA has rendered ALL apps unusable!

elguapo

Newbie
My phone ran out of juice and when I recharged it and booted it back up it came with a new OTA update, I didn't have a chance to say no!

Now NONE of my apps work, many are gone and all I can use is the actual phone, email and text, everything else crashes. All my settings have changed and even my call history is screwed up.

Here is what is now on my phone (original HTC Incredible):

Android version
2.2

Baseband
2.15.00.07.28

Kernel
2.6.32.17-g9a2fc16

Build number
3.26.605.1 CL264704

Software number
3.26.605.1

This sucks, anyone have help that doesn't involve a reinstall of everything? I searched online but no one else seems to be feeling my pain.

Thanks

The specs your showing are not the new 2.3 OTA update for gingerbread. I doubt you would just now be getting the 2.2 OTA

I have the exact same problem and it happened yesterday as well. All marketplace programs now force close, I had to pull my contacts back down, lost my bookmarks and other settings, etc.

Will post any solution I find.

I notice a previous poster mentioned 2.3. Should the phone have updated to 2.3 this week? Mine has been 2.2 for a while, so it's not that that update just went through. Maybe during the course of updating to 2.3 something failed and left us half-updated and now the phone is confused.

Possibly. 2.2 came out months ago. The 2.3 upgrade could have failed is my best guess. Go to Settings>About Phone> And should be a system update I think, I am running Cyanogenmod but can't tell you for sure. See if there is a upgrade.

But try a factory reset.
Since you still on 2.2. Why not just root your phone and install the gingerbread 2.3 OTA rom that way? Once on 2.3 I not sure if they found a way to root it yet.

While not associated with an OTA...to my knowledge....my DINC has become all screwed up....sluggish, responsive, but VERY slow. It is functiionally unusable. Turning it off and then back on makes it work for about a half hour. After that, back to sluggish. This started the evening of Saturday 8October or the early morning of Sunday 9 October. It is killing the battery also so there really does seem to be a runaway process.
